Not expecting more than 8, will be getting it day 1 regardless though. I've been following it for a while, and even though the demo disappointed me greatly I still think it would be a great RPG.
I agree with the posters above me, 8+. I also hope it does well. It seems like this will be a really fun game. After playing Dragon Age, I am more intrested now in games in that vein.
By the way, when does it come out?
I'd be surprised if it scored anything higher than an 8 on here. I'm expecting a 7.5 rating. I'm definitely adding this to my collection since I was very impressed with the extended previews and the demo depsite the glicthes.
8.0 max. Pros will be for its enjoyable combat at questing, but it'll be marked down for being generic in every way.
I want to say it'll be a solid 8.5, but it's hard to say how the final, completed product will measure up and whether or not it delivers on all the promise and potential. Though, unless the game is horribly flawed, buggy and/or broken, there's no way it gets below a 7.5 - or Van Ord should have to eat another hat.
And, based on some of the comments here, it'll be hilarious to see the shock and outrage if it should somehow pull a 9.
I'm thinking around a 7.5, which is still a good score for any game. A 7.5 says to me, that if you enjoy the subject matter and other game mechanics, you'll find it to be a good time. It's probably not going ot get any higher score than that because there's an obvious sliding scale based on similar material presented in other games, to the length and bredth of the genre it calls home. You have critic darlings like "Skyrim" and "Demon's/ Dark Souls", you have "Dragon Age" games, and even, to minor extent, "Final Fantasy" entries in recent months or a year which it will be compared and contrasted to no matter how distant it is from other game's core mechanics ("Dragon Age" is really nothing like "Amalur", but being fantasy games with a D&D flavor, yu see the connection)... And I suppose, all rightly-so.
My point is, there's a ton of very stiff competition on the store shelves right now for your attention as well as your cash.
And to that end, there will be some perspectives on it ("... It doesn't offer the truly Open World gaming, as the missions & locations are quite linear in nature, with only a suggestion of giving the gamer myriad choices ala 'Skyrim'. But the story is the focus so the player needs to follow..." etc, etc ... "... There isn't much in the way of real customization... " ).
I'm fully expecting all the above and more.
But for me, if the game comes out with a nice polishing after we all played the late-build demo and making our observations both good and bad, a score of 7.5 says I'm going to buy it. I won't purchase it day one, as I have lots of back-log and little free cash at the moment... But it will be on my shelf, as soon as it reaches my budget. I would really like to give it full-price support on Day-One, but those pesky life needs are deep into my pocket...
:)
This game appeals to my tastes, a little more than the art of "Skyrim", and it feels like something I can wrap my head around as far as options and customization. I'm hopeful that it will sell well and give the dev team a chance to further advance their creations... I think this is going to be a really fun game, for how I game personally. I'm sure there's quite a few people who'd rather play "Skyrim", and that's totally cool. There's games out there for all of us, that's why I love watching this industry, and reading about every game, whether it be a journalist or you, my fellow forum members.
Sorry to wax episodic on y'all about this game and my perspective on the score... But I felt it should be said that a 7.5 is still technically a Good Score, as well as What I Expect.
:D
Enjoy your game, whatever it BE!
When do all scores go live?enoroxI think all the other reviews go live on release.. I could be wrong though. I know IGN has some time of exclusivity.
