Might be a hint might not be anyway I just wanted to point out the following:

In an interview with famitsu Kojima said:

"We're currently reviewing everything - from the team structure to tools and our staff - in order to make Kojima Productions a team that can challenge foreign creators and software houses.
So, because of that, 2009 is going to be a very important year for us" and he added:

"I've thought a lot about how Western games have been winning, looking it from a global perspective, and there are things that I've noticed. So 2009 will be a year of change, a year where we start from zero again."

A quote from MGS4 said by
Big Boss
:

"Everything has its beginning but it doesn't start at one, it starts long before that, in chaos. The world is born from Zero. The moment Zero becomes one is the moment the world springs to life. 1 becomes 2, 2 becomes 10, 10 becomes 100. Taking it all back to 1 solves nothing. So long as Zeroremains, 1 will eventually grow to 100 again. And so our goal was to erase Zero. Even the mighty Patriots began with a single man, that one man's desires grew huge, bloated. Absorbed technology began to manipulate the economy, we realized too late that we had created a beast. We had helped turn Zero into 100, his sin was ours and for that reason I'm taking it upon myself to send Zero back to nothing."

The last time Kojima started from Zero was back in 1987 when he first introduced a hero called Solid Snake and a New World Order dubbed "The Patriots".

Now that Zero went back to nothing, a new Zero will be born. Do you think a sequel to MGS5 with a new hero is awaiting us? Fresh New.

Share your thoughts here guys.

Your reading into too much. It's coincidence he mentioned the word zero which is often repeated in the game

Well, I have to say, and probably many people will agree with me in this, that your explanation makes sense with what Kojima said, perfectly fits!

From my point of view, I like Kojima, and throughout all his years of development has been playing a role of "secrets hidder", so in this case, SPOILER the end of MGS4 gives brains the chance to think a little bit more not only about MGS4 but about the series future... If I have to be honest, you can be sure that "that"was not the end of the MGS series coz Kojima is not stupid, and knows that this series gave Konami a lot of profit and revenue. You must be really dumb to...just finish it... I mean, look at Halo guys!

Just my point of view...

Well you just contradicted yourself and this topic. A new franchise in no way, shape or form hints at a new MGS game. For now I think Kojima-san is done with MGS.

By new "franchise" I meant like another trilogy but with a new main character. A story that follows the fall of The Patriots.

A possibility, but a very doubtful one. Would you really want a whole new character, not from the MGS world, being tied into the Patriots story line? I know I wouldn't. I believe something completely new would give Konami something good to focus on, especially since it's coming from the genius that gave us MGS in the first place. I have no doubt or fears whatever Kojima-san brings will do great :)

I still can't accept the fact that we won't be seeing the legendary Solid Snake once more. I just can't. That character after all these years has been integrated into many many fans' hearts and not seeing him anymore in the future is so sad. :(:( The man is not dead yet, until he is, keep him in the damn game!

Man, it's just a coincidence that he mentioned zero. Besides I'm not sure I'd buy an MGS game if Snake wasn't in it, a MGS game without Snake is like bread without butter. Just isn't the same, no matter how much you try to convince yourself.

Purely coincidence and nothing more. Zero is a word, and a number. It will be used frequently. Also, as much as I love MGS, Solid Snake, etc, I wish that Kojima would work on a new franchise. Give me something else entirely different to love like Zone of the Enders.

no offense, but it sounds like youre in denial. For now this is probably the last of snake youll see for a while. If you want more snake, go make your own comics or something....But i really really dont think that Kojima saying "zero" had to do with anything. A lot of times people see what they want to see in situations because of desperation, even when theres really nothing to be seen.

After listening to the final speech by you-know-who, I don't want to hear the word "zero" again in my entire life. That ending fulfilled my "zero" requirements for life.

no wonder people look at toasts and see baby jesus smiling at them lol... if you really want it, you can see anything anywhere.

but it's not there :P

anyways... enough of Metal Gear... this was the end, and a great end... now let it die in dignity as the best game ever made so far.

Mr. Kojima, thank you and please give us something new :)

i think kojima says something like that, you have to let the conspiracy theorists loose. I doubt this refers directly to a new mgs, but like many, even skeptical people, i hope to see another mgs game.

You're reading to deep into what was most likely a coincidence. A real hint is during the final boss fight, if you die and select EXIT it changes to EXI5T and Liquid says "It's not over yet"

It's simple over speculation; we all want another Metal Gear, and it's coming to the iPhone (proud owner) :D....but console wise, the cast is asking for mgs5, so, in their plead, and with the good sales of mgs4, we should see another one within 2-3, hopefully.

Yeah, you're thinking about this too much. It's likely a coincidence. After what Ryan Payton said, though, I'm expecting a new MGS sometime... (not Metal Gear Solid Touch, an actual game).
