Konami @ Capcom comment on other PS2 to PS3 collections

Konami @ Capcom comment on the possibility of other BlueRay PS2 to PS3 ports / collections.

there are plenty of popular PS2 games/series that - provided they were upgraded visually and included a few bonus features - people would be willing to spend money on. And not all those games/series are published by Sony. So we asked around, to see if the God of War announcement had lit a fire under any other publishers.

Konami about Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid - "We are constantly exploring unique ways to expose players to some of our legacy titles such as Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill", a Konami representative told us. "Re-releasing games on Blu-ray presents an exciting opportunity for a publisher, however we have no announcements at this time".

Capcom - "I don't want anyone reading this the wrong way (as I'm not saying anything like this could happen) but I'm seeing some interested for DMC to get this treatment", said Capcom's Christian Svensson, posting on the company's Unity forums. "Are there other titles you'd like see go this way? I'm looking for some temperature readings".

Square Enix, sadly, refused to offer comment.

as you can see, no outright confirmation that similar projects are in the pipeline elsewhere (or indeed at Sony for other series), but definitely some encouraging words. You can bet somebody, somewhere is looking at the God of War collection and imagining something similar for Silent Hill, or Metal Gear Solid, or even Onimusha.

Movie fans love the Criterion Collection because it takes old movies and breathes new life into them; it's about time video game fans were given something similar

I find it ironic that Square-Enix, the undisputed kings of taking old classics, dumbing them down and introducing them to a new generation, didn't comment.

Give me a Metal Gear Collection on Bluray and guaranteed I would buy it if there was a collector's edition. GOW and DMC would also be worth it.

cmon square enix! stop being ****s and release Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX on a blu ray disc pl0x and i will love you forever!!!

Silent Hill 2 and 3 would be great. The originals are a bit pricey now so a re-release would be great.

I would like to see a lot of companies on board. It's a cheap way to make profits and there are a lot of PS3 owners who don't have BC or a PS2. Not to mention, the upgrades.

I may not have GOW2 (just the first), but I might go for the Blu Ray remake if the price is right.

I can see this becoming a trend this gen, don't know if its good or bad but I would definitely pay for a Metal Gear, Devil May Cry, ZOE, Onimusha and Team Ico collection :D remastered ofcourse :P

Sounds fine to me. I may or may not buy them (depending on how much better it really is), but it would be nice to have the option.

If capcom gives sf3 a ssf2thdr/mvc2-style release, loaded with redone graphics and online play, I'll totally dig it.

Silent Hill 2 and 3 would be an instabuy for me. SH2 is one of my favourite games ever.

Heh Square Enix...they just want to port to handhelds now. I'd love to see Capcom do a DMC release, though I'd probably rather see DMC 5 soon.

I don't really care which Final Fantasy games were on it aslong as Dirge of Cerberus was, I loved that so much never understood the criticism.
