Kutaragi also touched briefly upon the impending European launch of the PS3, stating that Sony has already shipped a million systems for the late March launch. It's still a bit early, so we presume that "shipped" doesn't mean shipped out to retailers.

even if they shipped 10 million it would still be overpriced hardware. ps3 wont sell much with european pricetag. Give us price drop!

The amount of preorders taken for the console would beg to differ.

A lot apparently but that is probably because of the amount of units shipping to Europe and the UK.

the question is how much consoles will they be able to sell at current price point. people have different reservation prices that they will spend on ps3. 1 million consoles aint much but after that first million is gone i doubt they will be able to hold current price level for long time (untill holiday season maybe). The arrival of 20gig model (summer?) will probably help but not too much.

We'll see price drop in late 2007, i just hope it comes sooner rather then later so i can buy it :D

I agree with what your saying mate. Sony must think our streets are paved with gold! Christmas 2007 should see a price drop though, it should sell well over that period cos all the kids that haven't got jobs will be demanding one as thier xmas present!

unlikely...unless Sony can cut costs....they must be taking a loss on the system atm....dont expect a price drop untill 08 at best

Sony already cutted his production cost, still not to the point of getting a neutral price for them. They still make a loss but a smaller one than before

A lot? So, in other words you don't know.

The PS3 is great and all, but I doubt they're going to sell a million of them during the European launch. The prices are so much higher there.
