Now that the speculation about a cooperative singeplayer-patch is over, let's focus on some other idea's!
Here's one (please forgive my English, I'm Dutch):

OPERATION MANDRAKE:To the last breath

(Thank you for suggesting 'Operation Mandrake', HorizontalShadow! -
For those that don't know, 'Battle Group Mandrake' is the battle group that alpha squad was in)
----------------------------------------------
Take any current (and future) multiplayer-map. Invite three of your friends, search for random players or join one of your friends. Once you're ready, all four ISA Soldiers (you and your teammates) spawn at one end of the map, and a few AI Helghast spawn at the other end.

This mode uses the singleplayer-controls (including cover), and the Helghast behave like they do in singleplayer. The only difference is that you can still choose a current (and perhaps future) multiplayer-****

The goal of your team is to wipe out all Helghast, using tactics, teamwork and the best weapons you can find (including the flamethrower and the nailgun!). This means that the maps need little enhancemants, such as weapon-storages near the base. As your team progresses, more Helghast will spawn and attack you. Everytime you're done killing all Helghast, the next wave will begin shortly thereafter, spawning even more (and more difficult types) of Helghast at the other end of your map. You and your team only have a few seconds to switch positions and/or collect ammo.

The Helghast will hunt you, flank you, surprise you and they will show no mercy.
If one of your teammates is down, you can revive him or her. If they go down again, they're 'dead'. They'll have to wait untill the next wave starts. After that, they'll respawn. If everyone dies, the game ends and you'll have to start over.

Another cool thing about this, is the option to choose a multiplayer-****(as I said earlier). This way, you and your team can setup choke-points (with turrets) and call for Air Defense. This will prevent the Helghast from flanking you etc.
Medics are useful, because they can provide teammates with medipacks and Saboteurs can secure areas by placing C4. The only ****that should be disabled is the Tactician, because you shouldn't be able to place spawnpoints.

The 'waves' are endless. They just keep getting harder and harder. There should be Leaderboards (global and for friends), so you can see how far you, as a team, have progressed in comparison to other teams/players.
There's individual scoring as well, so there's still 'competition' between you and your teammates.

So, how do you like this idea?

Seb Downie, developer at GG (better known as motherh666) replied to this thread at the official US PlayStation forums:

Yup not bad, but I don't think it would be particularily easy to add that in DLC or patches to be honest. Would require a pretty decent sized mountain of work in terms of implementation, testing, fixing, tweaking etc, but I like the idea.

Looks like a nice way to let me/us know this isn't going to happen...
I could be wrong, ofcourse. Maybe we will see such a mode offered as DLC in the future.

To make sure it will, all we have to do is keep asking for it. If this turns out te be a popular request, maybe GG will notice and decide to start working on it! This could also be the first ever DLC 'designed' by fans. If they made this into a community project, could you imagine the media coverage?
It's not every day that a game company lets the community decide a mode and test it.

So... please reply to the thread at the official US PlayStation forums if you like this idea. No need to explain WHY you like it, just let people know you do.

Massive threads with lots of reply's say a lot, you know

Thanks (a lot)!

definitely. technically, i do want to play kz2 online, it's just that my online connection's really bad as of now. but if something like this happens, i might just get motivated enough to phone the company and get a better package. besides, i love co-op modes, much more than competitive multiplayers.
