Does anyone know why theres such a lack of 1080p games on the PS3?

Evennew games like Warhawk is only 1080i and so is Ratchet and clank and Uncharted.

Its just 720p or 1080i games look like crap on a 1080p tv and all the games should be 1080p i mean the 360 has all 1080p games

The 360 is 1080i native the Playstation 3 is progressive scan native, meaning 720p or 1080p looks the best on the system. i've played on 1080i on PS3 it looked horrid.

Im sure 1080p titles will come in the future but tbh most gamers dont have full HD tvs so I guess its not worth it for devs to spend the extra time to make a title in 1080p

Becuase most games have been 720P and 1080i latley, usually multiplatfourm games are but the creators just havent wanted to make them in 1080p and 360 almost none are 1080p there 1080i. but future games for a fact will be 1080p MGS4 killzone 2 i think assassians creed might be as well.

The Uncharted demo plays at 1080p for me. Tekken 5 also. I forgot I still had my ps3 set up for 1080p on COD4 and it output fine. Dirt defeinitely did not, that was when I realized I hadn't reselected 720p. So I learned something.

*beeep* Wrong. DVD vs Blu-ray as nothing to do with the output resolution in games. DVD is limited to 480p in movies due to the standard that has been decided by the DVD consortium for video players. Games however, are not limited by any standard. The resolution is limited by the power of the console. It is a trade-off, either you put more stuff on screen at once in 720p or you use 1080p and need to cut stuff. 1080p takes way more processing power so you need to cut somewhere, you can't achieve, on the same system, the same results in both 720p and 1080p without cutting some stuff out. It's not some magic stuff lol.

I cannot understand why some people still believe that the resolution has ANYTHING to do with what type of disk is being used. It's just a matter of space. Hi-def material is better on HD DVD/Blu-ray because of the space, but not limited to. As far as for the lack of 1080p games, like someone above me said, it's a matter of processing that has to be done to have it running at that resolution and keep everything else (like framerate) stable. It's a trade-off that works in favor of gameplay fluidity. And if your TV has a good de-interlacer, it shouldn't look bad at all.

you can only see a difference between between 720p and 1080p on 50 inch and up and even then its minimal. 720p is more then enough there is not need for 1080p really and all these great games that have come out prove my point(at least i think they do)

All is relative to the distance you sit from the TV. I have a 42" 1080p Sharp Aquos and I can tell the difference between both modes. If I was sitting 20 feet away it would be another story however. So how to know if 1080p is ok for you ? Try it.

1080P is nonsense this gen. they are having trouble as it is to render games at 720p.

720P is the horspot this gen and imo they should just concentrate on that resolution and make the best game possible.

yeah the bigger the screen the more a higher resolution will help its kind of like aliasing since a smaller resolution will spread each colour pixel on a larger space then it would have if it was at a higher resolution. but really the difference is so small that its barely noticeable for most. and you should be sitting 10 or more feet away from your tv unless you want to punish your eyes lol. anyways 1080p want make games look much better either way and it just seems like a waste of power in my opinion.
