In the June issue of EGM there going to talk to the father of Final Fantasy Hironobu Sakaguchi and he's going to tell them why he will never make a game for the PS3. I'm really interested to know what caused his relationship with Sony to go so bad. I really hope is has nothing to do with the fact that working on the PS3 hardware is harder than it is for the 360 hardware. What to guy's think about this?Shadowhawk2606
Who knows. Maybe he had a bad night of karaoke with some big wigs at Sony. The rest of Square doesn't seem to have a problem.Â
i thought that guy was sold to M$...i dont think it has to be about hardware issues, or development issues, i think it has to be with the fact that he is a sold dog, this month we´ve had a lot of developers talking about lazy developers who complaint about the ps3 being so hard to develop for...so my guess is about money with that guypsyum
I can't imagine that's too far off the mark. He jumped in MS' corner pretty stinkin fast.Â
I wouldn't take anything he says about Sony too seriously, if you read his most recent interviews he comes off worse than some of the xbox fan boys lurking in this forum. I wouldn't mind knowing what happened myself but I woudn't expect an answer and if we do get one I don't expect it to be an honest one.Â
I think in some interview he said because he doesn't like the design of the PS3. 1 CPU and a bunch of SPEs. But its probably because MS pays his bills now. He resigned in disgrace from Square in 2k1 after the megaflop FF Spirits Within movie almost put Square out of business. I believe Sony also distributed that movie. I'm sure there is some bad blood between them because of it.crck

Doesn't really matter to me, I got both system so Im set.Â
Blue Dragon and Lost Oddyssey will never come to the PS3 because Microsoft Game Studios is publishing and funding both games for Mistwalker. By port those games to PS3 would damage Sakauguchi's relationship with Microsoft and possibly more funding from them to make future titles for 360.
He has joined a long list of people who hate the result of their creations. Another example would be Bob Dylan who hates CDs, Mp3s, Minidiscs and everything except Tapes because apparently they all make his music sounds worse.........
Also, his studio is funded by Microsoft ie. He is OWNED by Microsoft Game Studios. If he said positive stuff about PS3, it is likely he would get fired from his own studio :PÂ
Thats really interesting, maybe he is not satisfied with the price od the console, or anything else, it seems the Ps3 is lossing support. THERE AREN'T THAT MANY EXCLUSIVE 3RD PARTY GAMES ANYMORE. the onlu one that I can think of are MGS4 nad FF13 other than that??????????????SolidSnake2020
And how many 3rd party exclusives does 360 have that MS aren't publishing them selves? Beside BioShock I can't really think of any ohter.Â

Is this guy the person making current ff games? If he said he will never make a game for the ps3 and ff13 is "curently" a ps3 exclusive i can't see why i should care what he thinks about his sony bashing.Â

no his no longer making FF games, but he has a very good relationship with the current FF producer. Sakaguchi was director for FF 1-5 then became a producer for FF6-10 and maybe 11. I dont know what his role was in FF12, but his name was mentioned in the end credit.
His NOT OWNED by microsoft, But Blue Dragon and Lost Oddyssey are OWNED by Microsoft. The man is also making a game for DS, so if he wants to make games for PS3, he can. But they wont be Blue Dragon and Lost Oddyssey. Expect new original titles to come PS3.
However, from his last interviews, he doesnt like PS3 that much. Something about PS3's Cell and SPU.

It's a current trend in the industry that PS3 Fanboys don't want to admit to. I believe he wanted to do something different and tap into the USA market more.
The PS3 will not enjoy the same success or exclusive support the PS2 had. This fact will become more apparent as the year progresses.

Everyone break out your crystal balls!....
I'm not sure what trend you're refering too, care to elaborate? Seems kind of odd for him to choose JRPGs that get released in Japand well before a US date in order to tap into the U.S. market. That just doesn't make sense to me...maybe I'm missing something.
I don't know how you know that the PS3 won't enjoy the same success or exclusive support, we're 5 months into a 5 year cycle(assuming it's 5 years). What's happening this year that will make your crystal ball statement more apparent?Â
Your post doesn't seem to make any sense, add to the conversation, hold any facts. But thanks for playing.
If he is like all the developers we laud he has probably decided to focus entirely on just one console (his company is working on the DS though) and his choice for choosing the 360 might be based on two factors.
A. He could easily become the premier JRPG developer on the 360 seeing how it has so few JRPGs and doing so he could build a fresh franchise to compete with Final Fantasy.
B. Mistwalker is a small company and almost entirely focused on game design and not programming so he was probably looking for a platform that wouldn't require hard levels of programming to get good results on. Square-Enix already has a large number of internal programmers who can afford to learn complicated hardware and get the most from it.
And as everyone said his two premier titles are funded by MS.

He says whatever you want as long as you stick him a blank check beforehand. Â

Thats good news. I guess I haven't lost my interest in the ps3. Now just to wait on a price drop so I will actually see it as something worth buying.i think he is mad sony copied nintendo , with their motion sensitive controls ,and the fact 360 and wii is outselling ps3mariokart64fan
If you want to move in that direction, Sony really took motion sensing technology to the marketable level with the EyeToy so please lets not get into this debate.Â

How do you know that it won't be as successful as the PS2, what are you basing this on? If you are basing this on how the PS3 is doing right now then that is silly, no system is ever successful right out of the gates, it takes time.
haha, i'm sure the cash office at nintendo would beg to differ on that one now that the wii's out[QUOTE="crck"]I think in some interview he said because he doesn't like the design of the PS3. 1 CPU and a bunch of SPEs. spirits within was a decent sci-fi movie. but why label that as final fantasy....no resemblance at all besides it had monsters
I dont know the specifics, but I dont think he played a major role in FFX which was also more enjoyable to me than XII. The man is a genius and he is responsible for some of my favorite games of all time, but he is MS back pocket right now so of course he will say what he says. FF will do fine w/out him and im actually glad he split away. Now we get the everchanging FF series for the PS3 and if you fork out the money for a 360 you get to play the old school style of FF through Lost Odyssey. Now its like I have two FFs to look forward to.treelog187
Cheers to that....

Yes, Spirits Within was a decent movie. Advent Children as only an ok movie. Had it not have Cloud and the caste, the only thing that made it better the Spirits was having FF characters what we know. On another note, developer's aways talk crap about consoles. One say PS3 is weak, the other the 360 is weak, and the cycle goes on and on. In any of the situation they are kidding money from the either Sony, MS, and Nintendo.
