Lair coming today

Hey guys, kinda bored right now and looking forward to lair arriving through my post box in a few hours. Despite the reviews i thought i'd give it a go and judge for myself. Anyway before i play it, in order to avoid any unneccesary things to hate about the game... anyone got any tips/hints/guides to getting started? I mean... anything i should do/avoid/get used to or.. anything in general get the best experience out of Lair.

Just because we're all PS3 fans it's not blasphemous to admit Lair is a pile of crap. But only due to the controls, if they'd just bloody patch it it would be pretty average, and I'd play it again.

Here's a tips.

i never had troubles with any of the controls i actually thought they worked really well, just takes a bit of practise to use the sixaxis but i had no troubles at all doing the moves while flying the dragon

a hear a lot of people hate the game just cause they suck at sixaxis

There are some times when you're off, but not for long. But you're an air combat soldier, and I don't really think 1 single person with no super mega ultra powers will be able to take on an entire army full of dragons and thousands of ground soldiers.

Despite my opinion that the controls are somewhat fine, i seem like the only person who hates the game because it just flat-out sucks! Its not good what-so-ever.

Just be patient and stick with it....thats my only advice. Dont get discouraged.dooguesgoober4

He wont, until he puts it in. I was really hyped for the game, and people i knew told me it didnt look that good. I always shrugged it off, how i wish i listened to them. I could have held off for a week and got HS. The game is boring as hell, not to mention the mountains in the game look ugly.

I agree... I didn't have problems with the controls, but I just thought the game wasn't that good.

As far as tips... I found that 99% of the time... there was really no need to use the lock-on. And there was also really not much need for dragon to dragon combat which may be the lamest part of the game.

Right so i've had it for a couple days, haven't played a great deal of it, praps an hour or two and here are my thoughts:

I really enjoy it :) I don't understand people who say it's difficult to fly using the sixaxis, i found it remarkably easy.. praps it was the extra weight of the DS3 that makes it easier ot something but i had absolutely no problems flying around easily and fighting. Although occasionally it gets a little frustrating when it tight areas (such as that giant monkey head mouth thing lol), but other than that... flying was very intuitive. As for graphics, excellent and very atmospheric, huge maps at great detail on the ground and in the air although i did notice some frame rate drops when turning the dragon to face the action.

It's not the best game, but also it's not the worst game, and i'd say gamespot heavily underated it. It's fun, it's easy to fly and it's a innovative experience unlike anything else currently avaialable (nearest game would probs be warhawk). So i actually would recommend Lair to people despite what you have heard and i would personally give it a 7.5-8.0.

also, the story is quite good as well.
