I finally got a chance to play 'Lair' for the first time last night. I only played a few levels but I'm a bit confused as to why it got such a bad review. The game plays great and I haven't had any issues with the controls yet.

I do know that Sony released an update to the PS3 that was supposed to help with the controls and honestly I haven't played the 'older version' but this is a great game and I'm having alot of fun playing it.

I'm a bit confused as to why this game got rated the Most Disappointing Game of the Year on multiple sites. Anyone else have any thoughts on it?

I liked the game, but I don't think it was worth 60 bucks. It was fun when I got the hang of the controls. I just didn't like the short story mode though.

it was mainly reviewed bad because people didn't like being forced to embrace the sixaxis 100%. Personally I liked it and it didn't deserve those reviews just because someone didn't like the controls but such is the world we live in.

The game was over hyped. Not only were the controls bad, but it had repetitive gameplay and an uninteresting story.

I had fun with Lair - it definitely didn't deserve the reviews it got. Still, after all the harsh negativity it honestly left such a bad taste in my mouth that I couldn't finish it. Sad, sad, sad.

I really like Lair, but you'll see why it got low reviews once you get further into the game. Although, I don't think it deserved 4's and 5's. 6's or 7's would've been fair.

Only if the 6-axis controll were not enforced and unable to turn off, this game would have received at least a 7.5 everywhere.

The reviewers ARE busy and ARE lazy, they don't have enough time and won't spend extra time to get used to the controll scheme. They just say: "F**k, I'll just give it something under 5 since it's giving me a hard time doing the review"

Even though I love Lair, I agree with you. The learning curve to this game is pretty steep and most, probably, didn't want to give time to learn it. They were probably more interested in Warhawk and Heavenly Sword at the time (I think the three games were released around the same time within a 3 or 4 week span). Lair was easily casted to the side because, like previoulsy stated, it's learning curve was harder than that of the other games PS3 owners were interested in at the time.
