I've read all about Lair's problems but is it still worth a try on the cheap? It looks very nice and seems like it could have been a great game.

It doesn't stand up to games out now, but if you are interested in it, then get it if it is cheap enough. Once you have mastered how the levels go, the game can be rather cool. I don't know how the patch works. There are a few things you should know. There are 3 different types of fireballs. If you rapidly pushsquare he will shoot littleones which are ok for weak enemies. if you stop firing for a few seconds and then push square he shoots a bigger fireball. This helpful for taking out structures such as turrets guns and in the first boss battle. I don't mean to spoil the fight for you, but trust me I wish I had this knowledge before I played the game. If you want to do the 180 turn, you have point the controller down a bit and then fling it upward. DO NOT just hold it straight and and fling it. Point down and then fling. I can guarantee 90% of the time you will get it. to do the dash just hold the controller straight and and then with both hands slam it down with no fling. Wait for the dragon to finish the full dash before doing another one. If you pump the controller it will not work. Now that you know the rules, go have fun.
well I guess if you had to choose between Genjii, Haze, Untold Legends, and Lair, I'd go with Lair...
its totally worth a shot, i bought it way back never played it until a week ago. the story is meh, BUT with analog controllers the game becomes much better. i tried using both analog and sixaxis and the sixaxis just felt way off in what you wanted to do.
with analog the game feels more like a flight game, like ace combat. the reviewers complaint about hard locks on enemies are a thing of the past with the analog in my experience, and i had no problems with what i wanted to lock on too.
all in all its totally worth a look, i think with analog controls set in the game from the beginning it wouldve recieved a 6.5-7.5 rating instead of a fail on most sites. oh and no final note, the graphics are totally hit and miss, background crap but the things your suppose to focus on looks great.
I had a ton of fun with the demo for Genji. The only reason I did not buy it was because I thought it was going to tire me after the first level of fun was over.....Like Stranglehold.well I guess if you had to choose between Genjii, Haze, Untold Legends, and Lair, I'd go with Lair...

I've had lots of fun with it, and using the Sixaxis, but I could never beat the big sea snake (watched the youtube video, read all help, but couldn't do more than half life bar, as he ate the manta first)
If you want to have one of the most frustrating times in your life then yes. rent or buy it. Check my review for it if you want more of my opinion.
Lair and Time Crisis 4 are the worst games ever created for the PS3. Lair's graphics, gameplay, and controlling scheme ruin the game.
