Everyone is talking about 720p 1080i and 1080p but what actually is it? I don't have PS3 yet but planning to buy soon. I have HD ready Sony Bravia TV. Is it 720p or that doesn't mean anything?

If you have a Bravia then don't worry. Just hook up the PS3 and enjoy.

It's all up to resolution and refresh rate/ progressive or not

720p is 1240 x 720 resolution with the screen being refreshed once every 1/60 sec... 1240 x 720 = 892 800 pixel every 1/60 sec

1080i is 1920 x 1080 resolution with screen being refreshed once every 1/60 but only 1 on 2 line each pass. So it actually take 2 pass to refresh the whole screen.... 1920 x 1080 = 2 073 600 but only every 1/30 sec

1080p is the 1920 x 1080 resolution but with every line being refreshed every 1/60 sec.

What it actually do is: 1080i is supposed to be better for movie and low action slow paced video games.

720p better for faster paced action game

1080p better than them all. But much more consumming hardware wise so it's not much present for the moment (set aside from movies)

Oh and if you have a sony bravia, it actually depends on when you bought it/ and size of it. It's either 720p native 1080i capable or 1080p native

At this size it's most probably 720p 1080i capable. under 40inch 1080p is pretty much useless as you won't see the difference unless you are awfully close to it

If you have 720p it's able to take in 1080i signal. Don't worry about that

im guessing your tv supports 1080i and 720p, but since it's a 32" it most likely will not support 1080p, but you really wont see a difference from 720p and 1080p until you get a tv thats bigger then 42 inches...

most games are and will be in 720p. If it has a "Software" scaler built in, it will will usually look worse scaled than native 720p.

should be able to, you can on resistance warhawk and COD4. I know someone (I live in the UK) in an amarican clan. Its alright being able to play with anyone but its annoying if you donrt understand their language. For all you know they could be saying something to do with a tactical plan, and you have no idea.
