would really like to hear some definite thing from Rockstar / Sony about that, I won't risk my 60Gb even if it's a refurb with better elements

I finished it on my Slim so I have no idea. From what I've been hearing, I shoudln't put it in my 60GB. Never know if you don't try it though. Just run it for a while and if you feel the temp go up, or the fan go ape s*** quit the game and turn it off.

I'm getting my copy next week, can't say anything until then although, I've already seen tons of people confirming that they already finished the game on their launch PS3 and nothing bad happened, not even the ocassional freeze. These rumors pop out all the time for different games, 3 years ago people were convinced that Modern Warfare 1 could YOLD your PS3... most people were playing that when their console YOLD'd for whatever reason, so thats basically just a coincidence given the amount of copies mw sold.

I think its down to two factors, the fats running much hotter due to thermal paste drying up and becoming less effective, and the fact people played LA Noire for hours on end inevitably causing the system to freeze up. Sony and Rockstar also said they could not find anything wrong with either firmware or the game.

I still dont understand how a game can make it overheating? Its not overclocking the CPU or anything so it cannot produce more heat than normally? Could anyone explain this to me?

I have a 60GB that was fixed last summer and when I play L.A. Noir I do notice it is working much harder to play it and the fans are going real hard. I normally don't play it for that long a time, but it does seem to work a hell of alot harder to play L.A. Noir compared to something like Black Ops. I'd rather not have the system die again after it died because of Red Dead. What is it with Rockstar and making great games that seem to want to kill my PS3?
