For some reason when I rent Blu-Ray movies on Netflix they never work on my PS3. I keep having to download it on PSN. Yet when I buy new Blu-Ray movies they work just fine. For example, I went through three AVP2: Requiems on Blu-Ray from Netflix this past week before caving and purchasing it on PSN. The first froze after about an hour and the second and third ones wouldn't even load. However, I put a Blu-Ray movie I bought more than two YEARS ago in my PS3 and it loaded right up. This tells me it's not my PS3, it's the disks Netflix has been sending me. The last one I couldn't even see a scratch on it. What gives?

theres a huge topic about this on other message boards saying the same thing about all netfix discs. my buddy cancelled his netfix account because of this. he complained numerous times to netflix and went to many other forums and alot of other people complain of this exact issue.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's being bothered by this but where's the topic at? I'd love to see it. :)

I dont have this problem with my ps3 but I do have this problem with my Sony Blu ray player. Sometime my player wont load the disc, sometimes I have to wipe it down a few times and then it will work. But my ps3 plays them fine. Its a netflix thing not your ps3.

Yeah it seems like most discs I rent locally or from Netflix all need to be cleaned before I can watch or they skip.

I have had three problems from netflix with blu-rays. They didn't play period, put them in and nothing. Then they will send a replacement and it works. Must be gremlins?

After reading this thread again seeing that it seems these issues are basically random could be because there is some kind of oil residue on the disc where the last person that handled the disc didn't handle the disc correctly. I would suggest to anyone renting or even buying any kind of used disc media for the PS3 they should clean the disc before ever using it in the PS3. I do this as a habit because the contamination on the disc can cause damage to the Blu-Ray lens over time.

I've never had any problem with blu-rays from netflix playing on my PS3 ormy other blu-ray player. I've only had 2 bad discs and they were DVDsso I don't know what to say. Don't condemn the entire service because you had a bad disc netflix is a great service and I've been very happy with it.

Word. The streaming alone is worth the $9 a month! Better than any other streaming out there. Years of discs sent to my house, the only issue is the USPS losing them, which is the Chicago branch of USPS being the inefficient, mentally deficient, lazy, useless, stupid PUNKS.

I've only had this happen to me twice before. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones. That or my mail men actually take care of the discs.
