The latest firmware update (1.81) is aparently causing problems with peoples PS3s. I read about people complaining that their internet connection would disconnect for no reason whilst playing online, after installing the 1.81 update. Has anyone else experienced this? or is it just a rare problem with people's wireless routers? I am getting my PS3 in the next few days and i will be connecting my PS3 to the internet via a wirelessrouter and i would like to avoid this problem which may be caused by the firmware update. Can someone please help a noob out?

Nope, everythings peachy.

The wireless problems are usually to do with every provider using different hardware(the box in your halway closet), so you should look into which wireless router is most compatible.

I mysteriously keep getting signed out of the PSN network for no reason at all..this problem didn't start existing until 1.80 and 1.81...1.81 doesn't drop me as much as 1.80 did. So this is definately a problem because I never had disconnect issues prior to the firmware update to 1.80-1.81. Every firmware Sony's been releasing lately is buggy etc.

yup no problem to me anyways alot of people had disconnecting issue after 1.80 but if u were to google arnd u will find out that the main problem of it is that the ps3 nids to use some ports before it can access to the internet this is a sercurity problem wif ur router just go into ur router open those ports that ur ps3 nids and viola problem solved

its probably nothing to do with the ps3 update at all...

ive heard people saying before they get cut off line..so its nothing new and prob something to do with the router or just losing the signal..it does happen.

The only real problem is when people don't completely shut off the system (turn off the switch in the back) after installing an update. The PS3 is like a super computer. When you install something new, or make a major update, you have to restart you computer. The same goes for the PS3.

My 2 cents.

Whatever!! I looked at my setup prior to making my conclusion,as I said before it wasn't an issue until the 1.8firmware update which points towards the firmware being the issue. And how the heck can you base your conclusion that it's my setup just because you havn't had the same issue? That's silly..as we all know different machines react differently to firmware upgrades weather you wan't to beleive that or not. It's not my setup..it's Sony's buggy firmware..and they need to fix it!!ASAP So get off that defend Sony boat already, it's old. GOOD GRIEF

When PS3 uses DLNA Media Servers it runs the risk of conflicting with your Internet connection via WiFi if their on the same channel ...

Disable the Media Server function on PS3 and the problem should go away !

if you have the option to connect to your pc enabled you will get dropped alot. you know for the media thing and all. only enable it when your gonna use it, then turn it off , i havnt been dropped since, and that all started with 1.8. my bud had the same prob and that fixed it, unless you router or isp is actin up.

what he said. there is a problem for many ppl and if you keep getting signed out or disconected then turn of the media server function. it is a bug that they need to adress. considering its a pretty big update with actual nice features, but only some can use. me being one that can not.
