Wow... this game is impressive. It amazes me how powerful the physic engine is. However, when I try and play online, I always get terrible lag. All my other games are fine. Is this just because it is a beta?

It's been the same for me, so far it's been unplayable online as the lag is so bad it just pauses for a few seconds then your button press from 5 seconds ago happens then it pauses again, it's the worst i have ever expierenced on any platform, but thats why it's a beta.
But the release is not far off and for me online play is not possible i have a 24mb fibre optic connection(fastest possible in the uk) and i very rarely get lag so i know it's not my connection, i just hope it's sorted for release and im pretty sure it will be they would have used this beta to optimize.

On your other point, yes the game is hugley impressive i just wish my creativity was equally impressive i just keep getting stumped for idea's, i keep making things then delating them, i made this cool gear system(like in an old clock) to move platforms along but once i finished i had nowhere to put it no level design to work with so i just saved it and now im trying to think of a proper level design to work on and hopefully finish before saturday.

You and me both. I am litterally blown away at what you can do with the game. And I know what you mean about your creativity can't keep up.
I was making this contraption the other day, and i thought "god, if it keeps spinning like that it is going to break".. and i had to snap myself out of it and realise it was a computer generated simulation. crazy. no game has managed that before (for me at least).
So much i love about this game.. and provided they get online working smoothly, i am gonna have to buy this.

Yeah i agree, the creating side of it just sucks you in, i spent around 8 hours last night just thinking of idea's for contraptions to put to use in a level.
I had one big idea of making a system of gear's which the player had to piece them together using there tools, i made all the platforms for the gears/cog's to fit onto and put all the different sized cog's into a big box and when theygot to that part of the level it would basically be a puzzle they had to solve to move on, i made it and got it working but that took me around 8 hours(also im still learning the tools so after awhile we could make things quicker) and for it to be put into a level i still needed to add some sort of visual design for them that fitted in with the level.
The problem im having is i dont have a level lol, i just have several cool idea's to use in the level but i still have not sorted out what type of level im want to make in terms of visual ****scope of the level.
I will not be able to get a level done and finished before the beta ends so im just going to keep messing around and getting the hang of how things work, as it's quite complicated.
I heard on the 1up show that the beta has only a small percentage of the content the full version will have(obviously) so i want to wait untill i have all the tools before trying to make a level that would be enjoyable for people to play.
Once i am familar with all the tools and have made a few small practice levels im going to make a "game" with 10 or so levels with some small plot to add to it, just like an old 8 bit platformer, save the princess that sort of thing nothing complicated and in depth as i couldnt do that anyway.
Little Big Planet makes me wish i was an excellent drawer or at least had some sort of imagination as it keeps stumping me on what to do, i think im just a little over whelmed at the moment with all the possibilties i need to just come up with an idea and stick with it and not try anything to grand.
I also wish i paid more attention in graphics design at school, that may have helped me a little with designing a level.
