Hey come on man! The ps3 is a big boys toy, and therefore the ps3 and everything associated with it is NOT for kids. Children would do well to obey the following household rules:
 1. Don't run with scissors
2. Stay away from the medicine cabinet
3. Don't touch the ps3
Why is everyone going on about LBP, its just for the kiddies isnt it? I wont be wasting my hard earned money on it too many choice games coming out.Am enjoying COD 5 at the moment, then going to get Far Cry, Resistance2 then Legend of Spyro for my grand child.olderlady
I'm not a LBP fan but ...
Research a game before commenting because just looking at the cover and assuming it's for kids isn't cool.

i played it and the SHORT story mode that can be beat in 5 days or less was good, the online was funny for bout another week....its a rent NOT a buy....and the servers are always down...its not even worth putting the disc in anymore not worth chancing a "cann't connect"
and yes it is mainly a kids game and anyone who says different has "self idenity issues" period.  everything about the game screams "ages 12+" lol. just because it can make and older person laugh a couple times doesn't mean it isn't a kids game folks....

and that is exactly why i'm buying little big planet. Not because its a kiddy game, but because of far cry 2 (shooter) resistance 2(shooter) cod5(shooter).... now i am someone who just want something different.meteorwingsReally, Im tired of shooters sometimes. LBP is a great game, it's really fun, you have to try it to believe.
Why is everyone going on about LBP, its just for the kiddies isnt it? .olderladyI stopped reading there. I am 24 and loving LBP, so no it's not for "kiddies", viewing games like that just because of the art design is very narrow minded.

Don't listen to others about your purchases (most of the time), see for yourself if it's a good game or if it is "childish".
Remember: "You can't judge a book by it's cover".
am 28 and shortly getting LBP, does that make me a kiddy kid ??? if thats the case, i'm fine with it since i play videogames to have fun and pass my freetime... LBP looks fun and thats why i'm getting it :)

Well, while it may seem like it's a kid game because of how "cute" it is (I use the word cute loosely since I do not find Sackboy cute in the least) it's tailored to people of all ages. Although after playing it I found it boring. It was simply run here, pull this, hang onto that, collect sticker and bubbles move onto the next stage. The story is non existent and the babble talk they use for the chracters is annoying, but I knew most of this before I played it.
Or they like platformers maybe? hillelslovak
If you could even call it that. Mainly you're running from side A to side B. I can see the little bits of jump here and there but it's more of a race to collect crap. Again I have stated this was orginally meant to be a new game developers engine but they opted to sell it to the public and built a very loose "game" around it.

your poison is my food. every game can be simplified from getting from point a to point b. and mainly, imo, the whole point of the game is to create stuff, the story is just a bonus.

So you agree that it was mainly a dev tool disguised as a game to sell more units? Sorry but creating stuff gets boring after two days. I don't play games to do what the devs fialed to include in the game. I'm not here to do their job. Especially paying 60 bucks ot do their job. There needs to be more substance then just creating levels.

creating stuff gets boring after two days, for you. i still enjoy making line riders and enjoyed kingdom hearts only to make a gummi ship (story and combat didnt interest me). granted, every game cannot cater to everyone. case in point, this game to you. others in the gaming community, including me, find hours of endless fun through line rider, gmod, lbp etc, for the sheer enjoyment of exploring the ingenuity of what others have made, and discovering the infinite possibilities of what could be made.

And what makes you such a frigging expert on psychology? I'm 22 and I love the game, plus I have 3 kids, so if you think I have "self identity issues" you cram your opinion where the sun doesn't shine sunshine. And plus their serves are not down all the time, I'm regularly online with it and I never have any issues, and when the servers are down, it's because of maintenance, not every server is perfect.

The developers didn't fail s***. The whole point to the game is to bulid relationships online and to be creative, and no the story isn't a bonus. I love the fact you have so much freedom (not complete freedom, but to a point) to build whatever comes to mind. I find the create side of the game extremely helpful since I'm going to school for game design/development, and it gives an insight to what the developers can do with a game.

just because you don't get it doesn't mean it's for kids. If your brain had a little imagination maybe you could have fun making levels like the rest of us. So you bought a game about creating and sharing levels and you were disappointed about the lack of story? "I just bought Resistance 2 and there are no cars! I want to ride cars, like in Burnout Paradise!"
Creating stuff might get boring if you lack creative material. My advise, next time a game about being creative comes out, run away from it. Otherwise you might buy it and complain about the lack of "substance."

lol.....totally . Most kids buy PS3s or XBoXs or Wii and just let it lying there...as they are more intersted in toys and sports
+the latest thing for a kid to have these days is a PSP witha game like spideman or something like that.

i think im the only one here who gets it....it is a kids game period and if adults have fun playing it thats something else entirely ok???  oooooo shrek isn't a kids game because its a platformer omgz im so cool.....like i said idenity issues. or such a fanboy you can't admit it? or is it actually you that is trying to feel "older" because the fact that its a kids game hits home with the idenity issues.
and if you wasn't so mad about this you would see that ive already stated that i myself thought the story mode was good, but the rest was crap so cod4 has nothing to do with this, so anymore personal attacks directed towards me?

oh and creating stuff gets boring because how retarded the tools work and how limited they are. im sure anyone who has played the game can at least admit to that, and if they can't then i guess we know who were dealing with
and yes the servers do still have problems and if you want to call it "server maintence" or whatever else you/they want to call it w/e because i call it servers DOWN, which means i can't play during that time and thats my point. just about every other time i decide to play i either can't log in after the game loads or it happens while im playing. if i were to put a mathmatical number on it to be fair id say up 70% and down 30% and that 30% is annoying as heck and as stated earlier makes it not even worth putting the disc in to find out if its going to decide to work because ive already beat the story mode weeks and weeks ago

I've had the game since launch, put in well over 100 hours, and found the servers to be down once in that entire time. You have simply completely missed the point of the game; anyone can beat the story mode in a few days, so well done you. The story is nothing but a precursor to the creative side of the game-an opportunity to see what the engine can do. The creative mode is exceptional-you can do almost anything with it, and make some fantastically clever levels with it. The entire point of the game is to make levels, upload them, and let others experience your creativity. Yes, it lets you do what devs do, in a much simpler way; but then a lot of people would love to work in the games industry and don't have the chance, either due to a lack of ability to code, or simply missing the opportunity. This is their chance to fulfill their dream, and to show off what they can do.
Let me ask you a few things:
First, when was the last time you played and enjoyed a game where you didn't get to kill anything? To be honest I think that your taste in games says more about you than anything. People who can't enjoy the subtler sides of the media worry me somewhat.
Second, do you use Youtube, DeviantArt or Flickr? These are chances for people to upload their work to the internet and let others view it, and are all stunningly succesful. Yet do you criticise Youtube for not having pre-uploaded videos so that its users don't have to? No, of course not-if anyone asked you why Youtube didn't already "come" with videos on it, you would tell them that they had missed the point. However, this is exactly what you have done with LBP.
Is Youtube "just for kids"? Of course not, so what makes you say that LBP is? The fact that you can't kill things? Again, this simply puts across your juvenile and crass view of media.
If you argue that it's LBP's cartoony graphics and fairly simplistic gameplay that makes it just for kids, have you ever played the early Mario games, or Tetris? Most would agree that these are some of the greatest, most revered games ever, but they are clearly not just for kids-thousands of people of all ages enjoy them.

first off yes i do have a creative mind and thats exactly why LBP fails horribly as ive stated many times before the development tools in the game are complete rubbish.  i was a heavy garrys mod fan till valve bought them or w/e happened there. and purhaps that add's to my feelings towards LBP because they clearly got the idea from there and not only did they not build on it they couldn't even match it!  and not only that but because the gameplay is so simple (so children can play it) makeing the levels becomes pointless because hence its so limited in what you can do, and so irraitatingly slow to use.
and if you've only found the servers down once, then all i have to say is COUGH******** COUGH good for you.
and no the entire point of the game isn't to let others experence your creativity, its to have fun. which it fails extreemly well in the level creator because of how clumbsy and limited the tools are to use. and LBP was sopposed to be more than just a level editor...so youtube doesn't make much sense, and we paid for the "game", and that was sitting right next to R2 and the others....and if you do wanna call it just a level editor then why the heck did we have to pay for it when im sure there's still free versions of gmod that let you do so much more. the level editor in the game is just a complete failure, the one and only thing it has going for it is the monsters
Â
and if you read my posts very carefully, i said it was a kids game, and just because adults laugh when they play it, doesn't change the fact. im sure lots of adults laugh when they play shrek too. and im not sure if your the guy from the other thread that mentioned mario, but ill try to remember my response about that, it went something along the lines of mario was like MSG4 back in the day, and the systems from back then were just how games were. sackboy was intentionly made to look the way it does. all the jokes are from the middleschool and lower. every single thiing about the game is geared towards kids and it SCREAMS IT. to say its not a kids game is like i said identity issues. and i never said just kids play it im just saying it is indeed a kids game in design. Â
oh and you forgot about pacman, that game is great too.

I had much the same concerns but I ordered it over Fallout 3 and I've not looked back... Finished (but not got completed) all the built in levels.. Â but the game is so much fun.. co-op, custom levels and I've not even attempted to create my own level but I've some ideas..
I would estimate that I've already spent 40 hours playing this game and its still not got old.. In fact I wish I had more time to play.. Â
Anyone the likes games will enjoy the game.. all ages can play and the creative aspect/social is still to be explored..
I wish more games did this.. I'd love to see a Oblivion type game where once you've finished you could start design your own dungeons, keeps and then share/play them online..  Â

Either:

oblivion does have a level editor, as does morrowind, one mod of which is actually better and longer than the original game itself...the wizards island mod for morrowind. think it took them 2 or 4 years to make it
No i understand that there is a Elder scrolls MUG in development.. But wouldn't it be good if we could not only do the pre-created quests but also create our own.. Â Ok we would see some ego's and it wouldn't be as arty as LBP but I would love to see the "creation" aspect in other games.
I understand a 3D version of LBP is already on the cards (LBP 2 perhaps)..Â

Haha isn't the fact that you're playing games mean you have a bit of kid left in you? People are multifacted creatures that can either embrace the part of them that still enjoys stuff like videogames or just become a complete robot.
I see lots of Cliffy B wannabes when people talk about LBP. If it doesn't have blood it's for kids.
It's because of Cliffy B wannabes that devs are afraid of trying new stuff. Because people are idiotic enough not to open their minds and experiment new stuff.
