So I did some research and found out that in order to hook up a PC monitor to a PS3, the monitor needs to have DVI-D, and according to my research my monitor (Hanns G JW199D) has DVI-D. I noticed two other posts on this forums describing how they were going to hook up the same monitor to a PS3... problem was, that they never actually mentioned whether or not they got it to work =/

So do you think I should take the risk and buy a HDMI >DVI-D adaptor? I just don't want to waste money on something that won't work.

But I thought that if it had DVI-D that meant it was hdcp compatible...?
