My old pc now a linux box I use to host dedicated servers for l4d on pc; I built back in 2004 (you know back when hl2 (i.e. source engine) came out) can run any source game I bet it is worth about 200 dollars maybe less. The point was that you can play l4d on other platforms; so its cool just about anyone can play it if they have a decent pc even from like 2004. Just because its not on a certain platform doesn't mean people should be alienated from a great game.
Yeah I saw that L4D was coming out after I was looking on this site. But then again they aren't always reliable.

I also built a PC back in 2004, and sported COD2/Half life2 on it for many many hours, running a 7800gt, I quickly learnt that pc gaming isn't what I hoped it would be. Although anyone can play valve games(which are the definition of awesome and impressive), that doesn't mean you will be playing every other developers games on acceptable settings and steady frame rates. Although I'm aware console games also have their fair share of bugs and half assed port jobs ( which PC never has to deal with), the fact that developers are making a game that is meant for my system, and not some newly released super video card or 14 core rig, puts my mind at ease. robmonga2
Well I don't wanna nitpick that wasn't my intention but if you built a pc in 2004 you'd have more like a 6800ultra or a x800 xt/pro (i.e basically what I had (still) have in my old system). In aug 05 the 7800gt came out; if your pc is really equiped with a 7800gt you would prolly tear up source games on lower settings.
So I was just letting half of you guys know hey if you cannot play l4d don't fret if you got a pc from like (decent) 04/05 you can actually play the game.
I doubt Valve will develop it if it is ported. Valve never was involved with the Playstation 3 port of The Orange Box, it was a EA developer company did that. Also valve did not like the PS3 development kit, with Half Life creator Gabe Newell, called the PS3 a Waste of developer's time and many anti-Playstation 3 rants. I hope that they don't cancel the possible downloadable content for Half Life: Epidsode 3.
Also I did wish they put 7.1 LPCM audio in The Orange Box.

damnit, ok you got me, I was off a year, but the basic idea still applies. And I guess i got too into it and started system waring, but I don't know how many people would wanna game on low settings on their comp when you own a ps3. I mean the only game i'd do that for is starcraft...Please Log In to post.
