LoTR has more story but it also has more travelling in open space. It seemed like there were very few things to destroy and then rebuild into something else, which has always been one of the most enjoyable parts of Lego games, for me anyway. Maybe it was because the playing area was much more open and larger.
Batman is still large but you have vehicles and aircraft at your disposal plus you are amongst the city so there are many more things to destroy/build which is more fun IMO.
Both are good games but I don't really like the addition of talking in them, it really added nothing for me and actually seemed to have switched the focus away from some of the more enjoyable aspects instead, with LoTR especially focusing much more on the story.
Lego Star Wars III : The Clone Wars was more enjoyable for me than both of these latest ones.
If you a re a fan, LOTR.
I have it, and kind of disappointed tho. When you are roaming around, there are no enemies anywhere. It's almost void of anything fun to do besides collect stupid studs and do little fetch quests.
I don't know, I just don't find it fun not fighting anything while roaming.
Just got them both- I'm pro- LOTR on this one. Batman 2 is decent, especially if you liked the first Lego Batman but I really have issue with the hub in this one and the monotony of the puzzles. Not to mention, while I appreciate the dark tones faithful to Gotham City element, oftentimes the dark pallet and washed out textures in the Batmans make it pretty difficult see at times. Just my opinion.
