You can still play online with a 20GB, just not with WiFi. Plus you should know that as soon as you set up your PS3, you'll automatically start with 15GB. The configuration takes up 5GB automatically, so personally, the 60 GB or should I say 55 GB PS3 is much more worth it.Flame_Blade88Thanks, but what does Wi-Fi do...is that just a wireless connection to the Internet?

Yes... so if you have a wireless router, you won't need anything else to go online with it, and you won't have to run cords.

Exactly, internet and online gaming. With the 60 GB you just have a choice, connect via ethernet or connect wirelessly
you will still be able to get online via a ethernet cord. as far as differences, the wifi is a matter of convieniance, the memory card slots make loading pictures much easier, and 20gb is fine if you dont plan on putting anything but game saves on it.bruce-leroy
your little penguin guy in your sig got my ip adress wrong, everything else was right though.
Even though I own and adore a 360, I am still very interested in getting a PS3 soon. However, I just had some quick questions, and figured this would be the best place to ask: other than the hard-drive capacity, is there any more difference between the $499 version and the $599 version. I looked at the differences, and the only thing that caught my eye was the Wi-Fi, however, I'm not sure what that is. Without Wi-Fi, will I not be able to play online? I also don't feel that the 20GB hard-drive will be a problem for me because the 360's hard-drive has been holding up just great for me. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.NextGen86We do not use the term "lemming" here and everyone being openminded about PS3 are welcome here though they may prefer another console as long they do not set the consoles up against eachother. :) Anyway about your questions, you will be able to play online on the 20GB SKU through cable. But HDD space is a lot more important on the PS3 as many games allows you to install ~5GB of data to minimize loading times and the bare bone version of Home takes up 500MB alone not forgetting games like My SingStar and LittleBigPlanet where you'll constantly download music and user/developer created content. But on the other hand, you can just buy a bigger HDD for the 100USD you save on the 20GB SKU and there's no need for the card readers if you do not have a mobile phone/camera/video camera/PSP using those cards (you can also just buy a USB card reader).
What about the HDMI things? I've heard that the $499 version doesn't allow you to get the most out of your HD TV. Can anyone clear this up as well for me?NextGen86both systems have the same AV options

[QUOTE="Charlie2688"]And remember you can always upgrade the Hard Drive! for like a 100 bucks you can get a 250 GB HHD :DazzezinoLink??

It's where you plug in the HDMI cord into so you can play in high definition You don't need HDMI to play games in high definition. That can be done through component cables. If you want to play games in the PS3's highest resolution of 1080p and you have an HDTV that supports 1080p, you will need an HDMI cord. As I see it, 1080p is pretty much overkill, but if my TV supported it I'd sure as hell use it.
Okay before anyone provides anymore false or incorrect information I will try and answer all of your questions in my single post.
The difference between the 60GB and 20GB versions are as follows (Things listed below are what the 60GB has over the 20GB):
1. Chrome Trim
2. Wifi (Wireless Connectivity Built in)
3. Memory Card Readers
4. 40GB
You are able to upgrade the HDD of the PS3, I currently am using a 160GB HDD.
The available space on a 20GB PS3 starts at 18GB not 15GB.
Both versions of the PS3 have HDMI, both have a hardwire connection for internet connectivity, both have 4 USB slots in the front, thus allowing you to connect card readers without having them built in. You can also connect an external HDD, it must be formatted for FAT32. Both version have an optical output, and both have a multi-AV output if you choose to use component cables.
I thought the 20GB PS3 didn't have a HDMI slotDa_lil_PimPA few months before the PS3 launched, they said they had added HDMI to the 20GB one.
Thanks all for answering...so basically all that I'm dealing with is a smaller hard-drive and the wi-fi connectivity as the main differences, or is there anything else I should know about?NextGen86ya, two other things are.... you wont have the flash memory card adadptor thing, and the main problem is that the 20gigs are much harder to find, i have never seen one.
