Lemming, who spent his first day with his new PS3.......

So far, im pretty impressed. I liked that i could use my keyboard for the sign-up, it made things easier. Wish i would've had the chatpad for X360 when i had to fill that one out. lol As far as the 'dash' for PS3...I guess it serves it's purpose. Im so used to the navigation blades etc of the X360's dash, that i feel PS3's is way too plain. Im still trying to get used to the PSN Store. Where's the themes to download or Arcade-like games? Where's the older demos like Lair or GTHD? I couldn't find them for anything! lol I found the demos i wanted to play(since my games are still being shipped). One thing that i do love, is having Wi-Fi built in. Shame on you MS for not doing the same.

Ok onto what i thought of the games...Since i wanted to compare them & see once & for all...The "difference".

Im just going to start off by saying...Uncharted is definately the best looking console game to date. I really enjoyed the demo & can't wait for my copy to arrive! Heavenly Sword is another game i ordered & i wasn't "wowed" but i did have fun running through that quick demo. R&C is also a great looking game with nice vivid colors with lots going on all around, although it was very easy. Motor Storm was ok looking but seemed to get old for me after the first lap. I was also disappointed with Sigma in the graphics dept. I really hope NG2 looks better than this. Dont get me wrong, it was a step up from Xbox, but it wasn't something to rave about. Oddly enough, i felt really comfortable with the PS3 controller playing this game. While im mentioning the controller....What was wierd for me, for someone who luvz having rumble, i didn't even notice it wasn't in the games i was playing. *shrug*

*NOTE* I was using a universal Xbox/PS2 component cable @ 720p since my HDMI cable hasn't arrived either yet. Maybe things will look even better when i do use it? Also, i couldn't understand the browser for anything? Does it work off of your favorites from your PC? Another thing i dislike, is having to download a demo & then wait again for it to install? Although have an avatar or mini trailer with a background is pretty sweet while highlighting the demos. Anyways, im sure there are things i forgot to mention, but i'll update if i think of anything else. Feel free to leave some feedback. :)

cool, I also own a ps3 and 360 and I like both. I like both controllers. R&C is great, take time to use the groovetron on each type of enemy, including boss ones, they are the best. And sixaxis is used really well to break up the game.

I'm also a 360 and PS3 owner and for awhile my Playstation just sat there but as of a month ago i haven't touched my 360 i'm finally so happy to play my PS3.

And I agree with you Uncharted is the best looking console game to date

Thanks a lot for the info,mbrockway. mbrockway, i saw in another thread that you play games @ 720p & watch movies & dash @ 1080i. Is the native res of your TV 720p? And is there a way to set it up so that the dash & BD movies autoplay @ 1080i & games @ 720p?

P.S. Why does Sony pull demos down just b/c a game will be releasing soon? :|

Ok now i get what you're saying. Kind of sucks though, i wanted to make a comparison to Forza2/PGR4. Does anyone know how you get the browser to go to those theme sites to DL directly instead of using a USB stick?

as for the themes. go to "network', "Internet browser', and then press the start button after the 1st page loads up. type in "allps3themes.com" and you should find a nice collection theme's there.

To get to some of the older demos you have to go "view all" on the tabs and look it up alphabetically. Most of the old ones are still on there, just not on the recent menu. Lair never had a demo. Themes are under the new stuff tab right now, 2nd page I think. They probably go under game add-ons normally, but the psn ones suck anyways. There's a sight, psu.com or something like that that has craploads of them. Old arcade games are under game downloads. They only have a few like Sprint, Gauntlet, Joust, and a couple others. You just missed downloading Prologue off the Japanese store, that sucks. GTHD is under the alphabetical view all list I mentioned earlier, but its a shadow compared to the Prologue demo.mbrockway

There is actually an easier way to get to the Demos and other PSN games. While you're in the Playstation Store, click on the "games" tab and then click on "demos." The demos are organized by genre, and there is also a "newest demos" section so you don't have to look everywhere for the newer demos. The games tab also has sections for the games you can purchase online.
