I have a few questions about runing linux on ps3:

There are multiple Linux Os, which is best?

Any risks with running Linux?

Easiest to install?

Keyboard/ mouse necessary?

Internet browsing better / easier than the regular one?

Support multiple video formats?

Does it take up an insane of ammount of the 60 gig harddrive?

What is required for installation.

If you can answer any of these it will be very helpful. I'll think of some more questions later on.

1. Best is probably Gentoo, from what I've heard. 2. No risks, really. 3. Easiest to install is Yellow Dog Linux 4. Yes, both are neccessary. 5. Firefox is a much better browser than the one in the XMB 6. Yes 7. Either 10 gigs or 50, whichever you choose. 8. a few things, depending which one you are going to install

the setup process actually requires you to allot at least a 10gb partition to either the gameos or the otheros, which would render the 10 gigs unaccessable to the gameos if they are alloted to linux. so "5 gigs max" is incorrect.

Thanks guys, this helped a lot. So firefox, the web browser on linux, cannot be accessed with wifi? Because I'm using wifi at the moment and not a direct connection to the modem.

Aww, that really sucks for me. Also, is Sony going to release an official download of linux, or an installer, that will make everything easier, and compatible with WiFi? Thanks again.
