Hey everyone,

I'm currently doing a games development

course at Uni and I am fascinated by LBP.

I was wondering whether anyone knew what

engine MediaMolecule used to create this lovely

game.

Thanks

Pretty sure they built it from scratch. In fact, I think that was the point (the unique, 2.5-dimensional, physics-driven engine).

Wow!

That's amazing isn't it?

Makes perfect sense though.

I guess it allowed them more freedom

especially with the user creation dynamic.

That's what amazes me the most.

I've spent the last 6 months in a game engine

called Blender, which is now the bane of my existence.

It is free though so it is to be expected.

But it truly find it amazing that LBP allows people to

esentially play around with a game engine and make their

own little games. It's such a big leap and an achievement in

Games I think =)

I love RPGs! But I'm afraid i've never been on a team to develop one. I have however been apart of an RC racing game which was awesome, A 2.5D Side Scroller where you play as a ninja who hates himself and the whole world. A kind of Action Adventure similar to Wonderboy. And finally a Action Adventure/ Wannabe RPG where you play as a woodland elf on a desolate island. Lol. that's what happens when you mix Lord of the Rings and Lost =P

But there is also Qantum who i have heard are pretty good except their fees are SKY HIGH with little to no government support :(

I'm pretty sure Gamespot did an article about Uni's and Game design about 2 weeks ago, you should check it out. =)

Blender is great, i use it all of the time, but if you want to get more advacned get Maya then download the Havok engine with Maya plugins and you can use that, that is used for great games such as Halo and Halo 2, etc. But Blender works good, they use Bullet Physics and i made a few game like Jenga, a race car game and a few others, nice interface.
