[QUOTE="jtemplegarage"][QUOTE="popcorn_time"][QUOTE="jtemplegarage"][QUOTE="goodgunda"] [QUOTE="jtemplegarage"]Little Big Planet, no contest - I really think that might end up being the PS3 game of the year. I love the idea of being able to create my own game levels; I'm curious to see just how deep they really end up getting with the creator - early reviews make it sound like you can really do some seriously crazy stuff.popcorn_time
No, LBP =/= No contest i personally think the game will be a huge @$$ flop. You can quote me on this and put it on your sig if you want.
Ya, I'll call it right now: If Little Big Planet doesn't end up as one of the biggest selling games this Christmas, I will add your quote to my sig and admit that you were 100% right and I was totally wrong. It's an easy bet to make because there's no way it's going to happen - LBP will be HUGE. Unique gameplay, cute characters and unlimited player-created content = massive sales; this (along with Home) will be the title that starts sellling a lot more PS3s this holiday season.
That being said, I do think that LBP is a much bigger threat to the Wii fanbase than the 360 fanbase, as the cutsie non-traditional gameplay is much more inline with the sensibilities of the "Wii Sports" crowd over the "Halo" crowd.
I agree. It will sell a ton during christmas time. I dont think its a big threat to the Wii fanbase though. With the new wii fit and the other stuff they have...it is very different from anything else. We all know people will of course stick to there "Halo" like they always have.
LBP will be a big success 4sure. Im hoping its everything they say it is. The online global part is what im really looking forward to.
Well, I don't mean that LBP will be taking away Wii players with the exact same kind of game or anything like that; rather, what I meant was that the Wii pretty much has a monopoly on "non-traditional" gaming right now, and I think that LBP will be the first major title in a long time that's going to be able to directly challenge that. We gamers tend to forget sometimes that there's a HUGE section of the populace out there that isn't into FPS or RPGs; that's who Nintendo's been pulling in up until now, and that's who's really going to put LBP over the top.
Perfect example: my roommate's girlfriend hates video games... except she'll spend HOURS creating stuff for her little guys in The Sims. She'll never touch an FPS, but give her the chance to create a world (or, in the case of LBP, a game level) full of cute little guys, and she goes crazy.
The Wii will still have plenty of people lining up for Wii Fit and Wii Sports and such, but now, non-traditional gamers will have a choice on the PS3 as well.
My girlfriend is the same. She hates games but with LBP Id be willing to bet that she will play it. Or at least help me create things. Shes also into the wii games,
As far as the topic goes between the 2 id have to go with LBP.
Do you think building levels etc will be easy to do? Im curious because I was thinking of the wide age range that will be interested in the game. Building levels and creating so many things in detail seems as if it would be super hard.
That's one of the things I've been curious about too. A lot of the reviews from people who have gotten their hands on LBP early have said that it's very intuitive, but I guess it remains to be seen for certain. It seems that they've really tried to focus on making the level creator "deep but easy to use" - it would have to be, if they're going to try and bring in younger gamers.
Then again, I might not be giving younger gamers enough credit - if my kid brother can completely redesign his MySpace layout every friggin' week (something that takes me forever), then LBP should be easy for him. :P
