There seems to be a line dividing those who find this game genuinely boring or genuinely fun. Of course, critics seem to like it, but otherwise, how do you all feel?

I had a ton of fun with it last year. My girlfriend and I went through all the SP levels and collected everything. First time I've ever done that with a game. Had a blast doing it too. There are some truly amazing user created levels too. Do a Google search and you'll find lists of the best ones (I know IGN has done a few lists). The side mini games are also really fun.
So, overall, amazing game. Easily my favorite game this gen.

I found it to be pretty boring. I love platformers, but LBP just doesn't do it for me.
Cute? Yes. Fun to play? Not to me.

I guy with a Jason Vorhees pic plays LBP?
Haha, you're just like me
That's me in the pic wearing a Friday the 13th Part 7 mask that I had custom made.:P

Jason looked the best in part 7, good choice. You a big fan of the movies? I grew up on them and dressed up as Jason at least twice as a kid, good times. Had a real machete too believe it or not, spray painted red for blood :P
LBP is a great game if you have a creative side, or your looking for a game that the whole family will enjoy playing together.
terrible in my perspective. bought it and contemplating keeping it for the modnations beta. its okay but i can never see myself making a level, and the platforming is really far from decent. if i was gonna have fun with friends the new super mario bros wii would be 100x funner.
Its fun, but its not as fun as like a Mario game because its not as fast and fluidSepewrath
So you never played the game. The Bunker in the Wilderness levels? Try to ace that.
LBP is great. Literally millions of user-created levels, maybe only hundreds of really good ones, DLCs great if you're into it.
I got the Metal Gear Solid pack, it was great. The story in that is way funny, turns Liquid made a machine that spewed out copies of the same trophy levels all over the place.
Fun just to mess around with friends, internet's laggy until you get into the level, usually then it's fine. Hundreds of different stickers and decorations allow for limitless amounts of costumes and pod decorations. My friend made Link, Dark Link, Charmander, the Joker, and this cool red and black Sackboy. Music is great, as well.
its both fun and boring. its fun whenu first play through it and even more fun when u play with your friends, but its is boring when u play by yourself when u have unlocked everything/played with everything.
^ you mean online? Yeah it turned me off it aswell i dont know why they didnt use dedicated servershotfireeYeah, that's what I meant.
I think it depends if your a fan of the editor, if you have any urges in physics/game design or inventions it can't be beat.
Is like saying is lego boring or fun. Depends on your imagination
i'm one of the rare few who find this game pretty boring. i played it on release day and havent touched it since. maybe i'm just not into platformers, since im more of a sandbox-type of a game player.
it's just sitting on the stand in the off-chance someone asks to play some levels with me.
Like other comments above, it boils down to your imagination, and how creative you are.
I think that the game is A LOT of fun. Every now and then, there are times when you can get bogged down, and it loses some charm. However, there's nothing more satisfying than making your own content.
The clever thing is how cute or twisted you can make it. Do you want to build flowers and bunnies, or blood stained walls, and slime? What about a battle tank or race car? Do you want to BECOME a character? The Playstation Eye allows you to stick your mug into the game.
I'm in the process of making a Halloween level, with no reference to work from. The goal is to stay away from as many pre made items. So far, there are custom made vampires, mummies and spiders. The player must grab onto squidgy eyeballs, drop items into a bubblin' cauldron, or pull teeth out of a skull shaped door for example.
In terms of locations, I've built a graveyard from the ground up, and it comes with added thunder and lightning effects. The rest of the game is set within the walls of a spooky hotel.
The lighting is pretty cool, once you learn how to exploit it. On the surface, a level can be pretty basic, but look amazing with the correct ambience.
Overall, I think that LBP is a good creative tool. Definitely charming and worth the time and effort.
I should add, the online should be smoother soon, I know they are/have been working on it, it's also getting online create so you can screw around with online friends in the editor (really cool) and the water is going to be worth the wait, you will see an amazing amount of cool water based levels
