first i will prove why im unbiased by saying i dont stick to either one. IN 07 i got 2k and in 08 in got live and in 09 i bought neither bc i didnt like either. So therefore i just try them both out and pick which one plays the best IMO. Ill add ive played lots off basketball in HS and in college while in the off season from baseball, and in whatch tons of nba games, im not child in im mytwenties. OKso ive played the live demo for hours now and ive also rented 2k10 so now i can make my decision...(i will not go too indepth here)

GRAPHIX

2k10 has amazing cutscene graphixthat clearly beat nba live cutscene graphix. Live the players up close dont look as good. In 2k the playerslook very real and very sharp. Now gameplay (broadcast camera)graphix could be a toss up. I play on a 46" sharp aquos and 2k still looks very clean and sharp but has noticeble more jaggies than live. Live looks good too but seems to have a "smoother" look that seems to hide the jaggies. And 2k seems to look slightly more realistic in terms of skin tone and overal presentation. This catagory can go either way and is just preference therefore TIE

GAMEPLAY

Now both play pretty well. Player/team tendencies seem to be accurate. Ill give a slight edge here to live bc of the DNA thing, it really makes each player/team play just like their real life counter part. And i noticed Live has great off ball movement where player without the ball will cut to the basket, spot up for shots, set picks and just seem to movenaturally and realistic to the flow of the gamewhich i love! 2k honestly feels outdated to me. The players kind of "skate" across the floor. Sometime they move slow or too fast, sometimes u get caught up on animations, sometimes the ball zips to quickly across the court as u make passes, it just doesnt look or feel right at all. Live also is more response in terms or controls. They players just seem to do what u want them to do when u want them to do it. Live just feels more fluid. slight advantatge LIVE

AMIMATIONS

Ok here is where Live sets itself about big time! yeah 2k looks good and stuff but i could seriously pop in 2k7 and it will play similar, but live 10 is amazing here. just from the start of the demo u can clearly tell who is shooting just by c ing the jump shot aminations. kobe, wade, lebron etc shoot exactly like themselves its nuts vince carter too with his fade aways and off balance shots. These great signature animations also include the dunkseven the dribbling! lebron dunks, shoots and even dribbles like ledron etc..Its great! Andthere are tons moredunks, hook shots, layups, layups in traffic, jump shots, jump shots in trafficitsridiculous compared to2k. there are so many extra animations like playershopping over another player that just fell to the floor after a contested layup, players pointing to thecrowd aftermade shots, players holding their hamstring as the walk back down the court after they have fallen down, i even saw vincecartertouch his face and look at his hand several times to see if he was bleeding after a layup in traffic as he slowly madehis way back down the court! (This is all in game on the fly while ur playing) The shooting, the ball physics with the rim as it rattles in, the net animations all makealive really come to lifefor the first time in years! There are so many more, like different inbonding animations after a made basket.. i could go on andon all day seriously. So adavantage LIVE obviuosly In 2k there just doesnt seem to have these signature styles. Just about all the jump shots and layups look the same for all the players...

So inclosing i personally choose live 10 this year bc itjust playsmore realistically, more fluid, and more responsve than 2k Live isnt perfect but its better. Its all a matter of opinion ofcourse but i would love all u "live suks 2k destroys live every year" just to giveLIVE10 a serious look here. I really think its much better! remmember im no 2k or live fanboy just a fan of some bball, and the game that represents the NBA the best gets my money...

I had a blast playing Live's demo and was leaning towards it. The chars look a little weird but I feel like I'm in more control of the character in Live because of the freestyle stick than I do with 2K.

I honestly like 2k10 better. i rented both games because i wanted to play them both before i bought one. I played basketball in high school and in college and now im playing in different leagues here and there. Live made a big improvement over the last fews years tho its just to easy to me, it was basically call for a pick and im dunking the ball and thats on the hardest difficulty. I like all the different moves you can do in 2k10 like the hesitation move, half spin, double cross over and the different shots too, Floaters, leaners, bank shot if you choose to, and the presentation is better in 2k10. I played for bout 3 hours yesterday and had a blast. i also like that its kinda difficult to get in the paint and dunk, and the turbo is under control so you cant just hold the r2 button and run around like crazy. Also in Live i had 12 steals with chris paul played against my homeboy he was pissed it was way to easy to steal.

fair enough, but 2k10 just plays so stiff and clunky, either way guess u cant go wrong this year
