To cut the crap, I'm getting a PS3 this holiday season, and I was just wondering what you all thought were god games. I already have a PC, so basically I won't be buying any game that's availible on PC and on PS3 unless a) it's not released on PC yet, or b) it's significanty better on PS3 than on PC.

So, I lookd around (at the getting started with PS3, platform awards for 2009, etc.), and I came down to a list of possibles based on genre, reviews, videos, etc, as follows:

-Metal Gear Solid 4, it seems like it should be awesome, only probelm is that I heard that you need to play the first 3 MGS games to understand a lot of MGS4, so I was thinking I might hold off on it until I get around to buying the first 3 MGS games

-Uncharted 2, seems awesome, mmix of platforming as wel as shooting, seems like a little bit of everything, which I like. This is probably the only one that's I know I will be buying for sure (unles somebody can dissuade me from doing so).

-Assassin's Creed 2, I have playd a bit of Assassin's Creed 1, it was fun and cool at first, got boring quick though. However, the reviews for AC2 seem really good, so perhaps I should give AC2 a try?

-Killzone 2, seems to be the best PS3 exclusive shooter to date, I'm also intrigued by the multiple game modes in one game thing, and the reviews for it have been very good, so I might pick it up to satisfy my shooter cravings.

-Modern Warfare 2, The other choice instead of Killzone 2. I liked COD4 a lot on PC, and I'm probably gonna pick it up for either PC or PS3. Only problem is hackers+no dedis on PC, but I do prefer the keyboard+mouse combo over a gamepad. I'm also not a fan of some of the kill sreak awards (read: Nuke), but otherwise, it looks like it'd be a decent MP shooter. So I'm not sure whether I should get this for PC, PS3, or not at all.

-Infamous, looks like a cool action-adventure with long gameplay (the review said 30 hours on first playthrough?), also, the guy controls electricity, how isn't that badass? This is pretty much competing with AC2 for the spot of Action-Adventure.

Basically, to sum it up:

-I'm 95% sure I'm buying Uncharted 2

-I'm getting either Killzone 2 or MW2, leaning towards KZ2

-I'm geting either Infamous or AC2, leaning towards AC2

-The wild card is MGS4, it would almost be a surefire buy if it weren't for the fact that I don't want to play through without background on the MGS storyline

Also, I'm not interested in RPG games. As 1) I find them boring, and 2), I've played a bunch on PC already (notably Fallout 3 and DA:O). So I'm sticking with the Action-Adventure and Shooter Genres. Normally I'd include a driving/racing genre, but I'm realy unimpressed with the offerings this year (Dirt 2 doesn't look too good, I've played NFS: Shift and it isn't that good), I'll porbably pick up Gran Turismo 5 when it comes out next year though.

Any opinions on which to buy?

If your looking for a good online shooter neither of them would be a good choice IMO, Killzone 2 doesnt have that many players anymore and CoD MW2 was a total let down, my advice would be to wait and get Bad Company 2 when its released.

Get Uncharted: Drake's Fortune first. Then Uncharted 2.

AC2 and inFamous are 2 great games, but I had more fun with inFamous.

KZ2 is miles better than Modern Glitchfare 2. Huge letdown after COD4.

And you can get MGS1 off the PS store, but not 2 or 3 =(.

Also buy LittleBigPlanet, funnnnnnnnnn.

Oh yeah, at the other guy, BFBC2 is the best.

Well then, perhaps I'll hold off from buying a shooter for a bit then.

Anyways, how important is it that I play Uncharted 1 before Uncharted 2?

Anyways, any more opinions for or against AC2 and/or Infamous?

Playing Uncharted 2 before beating Uncharted 1 is like watching The Last Crusade before watching Raiders of the Lost Ark It's still fun, but you won't be able to enjoy it fully. AC2 - Amazing production value, takes a while to beat, huge cities, good combat system, varied missions, tons of things to do, great story. Streamlined combat, sometimes frustrating side missions, strategic options are not essential inFamous - Cool and awesome-to-watch cutscenes, pretty big area to exlplore, crazy powers that are both cool to look and fun to use, you can go very strategic with the combat, very fast-paced and flexible combat, great story and ending that leaves more to be desired, different powers for Hero route and inFamous route (and yes, both are pretty fun to play). And there is a free DLC power you can use (it's not as fun to use, but looks pretty cool) City kinda feel like it lacks some things to do, Karma system isnt as mindblowing as it seemed to be, the side missions can get repetitive, smaller area compared to AC2 But in the end, you NEED to get Valkyria Chronicles

Alright then, it's basically come down to this then, depending on my budget (not sure since I havn't finished my christmas shopping for others yet), if I buy 2 games my options are:

-Uncharted and Uncharted 2, my only worry is that if I don't get hooked into Uncharted 1, then buying two similar games would end up being a waste

-Infamous and Assassin's Creed 2, since they're both action-adventure yet both somewhat different, I feel safe buying them both as chances are I'll take a liking to at least one of them

If I buy 3 games, then:

-Infamous, Assassin's Creed 2, and Uncharted 1, and I'll pick up Uncharted 2 maybe during the springtime (I really don't have much time to play games, so they should last me until then)

-Or, Uncharted 1, Uncharted 2, and either AC2 or Infamous, which would let me play through both UC games and still get a different action-adventure in there to satisfy most of my gaming needs.

Any opinions on these?

You got the general idea right, pick up Uncharted 1 and 2, Killzone 2, Assassins Creed 2, Infamous and I must recommend Metal Gear Solid 4. You can catch up on that story later on or even from you tube if you want but I do recommend if you can to actually play previous MGS titles.

That will keep you occupied for quite some time. All superb games. ;)

LOL at the 30 hours for 1st playthrough in Infamous. Trust me, the game doesn't take too long and the missions are quite repetitive. I would rent this game instead of buying it.

from the games you listed I would get Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, and inFAMOUS. If you want a good RPG check out Demon's Souls and Valkyria Chronicles Others: LittleBigPlanet for a good platformer/co-op game Wipeout HD for a good racing game
