OK, here's my situation...

I have an old 20GB PS3 which fills up pretty quicky...I want to upgrade the hard drive, but I'm not sure how big I should go. I already have the 80GB from my last laptop in an enclosure and use it to backup my current laptop. The actual capacity is only like 74.5GB though; I guess I can't get rid of the old OS. It looks like I can get a 250 or 320GB on Ebay for about $100. But will I ever need that much? Should I spend the money and go big, or just use the old 80GB hard drive I have and find another way to backup my computer? What do you guys think?

You could always use the 80GB you have and replace it with the 20GB you take out.

That's a thought, however, I don't think 20GB will be sufficient to backup all of my crap on my laptop...

Whether you need that much space depends on what you may want to do. If you wanted to stash a bunch of MP3s on there or some videos the extra space of a 250 GB or 320 GB will come in very handy. I would say go with the biggest you can get/ afford and be worry- free when it comes to drive space

Not to steal the TC's thunder, but I have a question and didn't want to make clutter in the forum. How much of a difference in performance is ther between 5400 and 7200 RPM in the PS3.

I read somewhere that it makes almost zero difference on the PS3, but I don't really have anything to back that up.

based on what i read, there's ISNT A NOTICEABLE difference between 5400 to 7200rpm but if you can notice the 1 point something second, that's the difference.

7200 is better than 5400 in every aspect ( loading game from xmb, installing game to hard drive, loading saved games) however solid state hard drives are only slightly better than the 7200 rpm, but only the expensive solid state performs better.
