I only buy 3 ps3 games a year, and MvsC3 would be a contendor, but I think other games would beat it out of the running. I'd probably just rent it for a fun weekend with my friends.

yea, button mashing with the crowd that i played mvc2 with would get you a quick lose. i think it does take skill.

^^ totally agree with this guy . if u guys think this game is button smashing .. then u guys havent played any elite players. and i doubt they will make the number 3.
i say this becuz if in any event that it never comes out i wont be as dissapointed. marvel vs capcom 2 is my all time fav fighting game, and yes GOD plz keep it 2D i cant stand 3D fighting crap. if this game does come out its gonna be epic.
and also i heard sumwhere that EA bought the license to marvel characters (dunno if its true) so there fore capcom cant use the marvel chars in their games and i know that EA cant make better fighting games then capcom or anyone for that matter

Not Button Smashing, Buttom Mashing :).
It's definitely not as technical as other games like CvS2, SF3S, HF, GG.
i guess some ppl view it as a "button masher" becuz theres so much to do at a time. it mite look like a pro player is button mashing but he knows wat hes doing and as for alot of non exp players i played, theres so much going on on the screen and they have no idea wats going on so they button mash. but still button mashing in this game is a no no.. well if u wanna win agaisnt sumone good
i bought MvC2 for the PS2 a 1.5 months ago. Had to thrown down $80 for a used copy on eBay. Been playing it non stop since. I'm looking forward to seeing MvC3. Hopefully it'll look something like the new street fighter game.

yeah i heard about that awhile back, its coming to ps3 too, but i heard that they wont be able to release it outside of japan because of licensing issues. But i also heard that since the game using the mvc2 engine it would be really easy to swap out those characters for the marvel ones.... all rumors tho.
