I finally got round to watching Sony's e3 conference, and was really surprised by ModNation racers. The game looks pretty cool...like lbp meets mario kart.

Apart from the obvious big titles i'm really looking forward to this game!

I do hope it turns out to be a great title , and isnt rushed like so many promising titles have been in the past

I am looking forward to the game too as it looked really easy to navigate the create a track mode. Not to mention, the Little Big Planet version for the PSP has got me excited too. :)

While the tools do cool things, you gotta admit the level they made did look lame. I gotta see more intricately made levels if I am gonna get psyched for this.

It looks amazing! I like the Create, Play, Share policy from LBP. I hope it's applied to more games in the future.

Yeah but he made the entire thing in like 5 min tops... I have really been looking forward to this game, I loved the innovation and creative allowance of LBP but platforming just got old for me after a while... Being able to do MarioKart esque battle racing with a constantly expanding selection of courses and tracks is just going to be awesome... I really hope they allow an option to make arenas and not just tracks that need a set number of laps for victory... Could you imagine the types of battle arenas that would come out of users creating them? They could even use the three balloon N64 feel for all I care

I 2nd that notion, hopefully it will be like CTR, the original on the PS1, I still cant get over how amazing that game is, sure its a lot like the N64 one, but its for PS1.

Yes. If it's anywhere near as much fun as LBP, I'm picking it up.

This was about the only game of interest to me this year from Sony at E3. I LOVE Mario Kart and I've had a lot of fun with Little Big Planet. I haven't had a chance to build a level in Little Big Planet, but I like having the option to.

I'd like to have a good racer on PS3, I have Burnout Paradise and it is okay but not my favorite. I have Forza on Xbox and I like it, but my favorite racing game is Mario Kart, so I would love to be able to get something like it for PS3.

I just think it looks really creative and hopefully fun to play, the speed at which you can create tracks is amazing. So looking forward to it coming out... Is it going to be a PSN title or released as a physical Hard Copy?

i think the creation tools look amazing, i just hope that the racing is fun. because even if you made the most amazing and creative track in the world, but it was no fun to drive on, than whats the point??

Exactly, it all depends on the handling now. I hated how cars handle in Mario Kart. Played it so much and it always felt like I had to slide into wherever I wanted to go. Crash Team Racing was fun and I loved the handling and backwards exploding bombs:twisted:. However, my favorite racing game to this day is chocobo racing on PS1. Handling may not have been the best but drift was good and all the materia and abilities were awesome, aside from the useless ones. I think the materia system is what made it awesome for me.

Yeah, I hope they remember to differentiate themselves from mario kart. Having plain-old drift mechanics and powerups will not provide for a satisfying experience. Some guy earlier in the thread said that he found littlebigplanet boring. While I haven't played it myself, through videos I can see how the gameplay could lack a certain level of engagement.
