Hey guys when i first bought my ps3 like back in january whenever i would play games or have the system on i would not be able to hear the ps3 at all. It was pretty silent except for when i played for a couple of hours then i could hear the fan slightlty. Now it only stays silent for about 5 minutes and then the fan kicks into full gear. Its not as loud as the 360 but its still pretty loud. Also whenever i try to play rainbow six i can hear my ps3 read the disk over the fan sometimes. Anybody else having thing problem and should i call sony to check it out? Thanks a lot

Check the vents make sure they are all clear. I know my house is pretty dusty and I have to keep up on both my computer and PS3. A couple of bursts from a can of air should clean em out.

I am not sure on th loud disk noise. Perhaps this has something to do with the way the Rainbow Six discs are read. Are any of your other games loud when they are being read?

My PS3 was silent until I bought a Nyko intercooler and I still don't have a problem with the sound, but If I crank the fan speed all the way it is pretty damn loud but when I am playin a blue ray movie nobody notices at all even on high speed.

i have the same problem whenever playing Rainbow Six Vegas .. it's only that game for some reason .. try different games to see if u can isolate the issue :)
