When I insert a disc, it sometimes spinns noticably faster than it probably should. It makes a strange noise

and when I put my hand on the system it vibrates. From time to time it goes quiet and then

loud again as it reads data from the disc.

I tried to put the disc several times and sometimes it"s quiet I can"t even hear it and

sometimes it"s much louder because of the spinning.

I have 80gb with 2 USBs and no compatibility - the newest model.

Is it normal or is something wrong? Thanks for replies.

Well it might be your disc drive getting alittle weird.I don't think that it is a big deal, but if you just bought it ask if you can get a replacement.

Yes I so hope it's normal. It's been 3 months I bought it and it's been doing this since day one. I don't care about the noise as long as it's OK.

Since day one? To me, it's a faulty drive or the disc since you weren't clear regarding which or how many discs you were using but given the length, I would go with many. Mine never made any noise.

It doesn't matter which disc I insert. The thing is that when I insert one particular disc few times, sometimes it makes more noise spinning that other time. Like if it was inserted wrong or something. I use about 5 disc and a few hours ago NHL09 was completely quiet. And sometimes it's not. It's strange.

Any chance you could make a video or something? These days it's hard telling whether someone's hardware issue(s) are normal or not without actually hearing/seeinig it. It doesn't exactly sound normal the way you described it but yeah. I'm not too sure.

OK I"ll try to record the sound. But I"ve never done this before so - how can I upload mp3 file here?

And one more thing - when it makes that noise it vibrates, sometimes quite a lot. No idea how to describe what is a lot for me though. But I can

feel it vibrating even when I put my hand next to the system. It sits on wood.

So I tried to record it but I couldn"t hear it after that. So I suppose we can"t do anything more about it. I"ll just hope it"s normal and nothing unplesant will happen...

That happens too me too, I have the same model and well I honesly think its normal. Mainly becase I never really notice any skiping on the screen. But this has only happened for MGS4 or at least this is the only game I noticed it in. But just in case you should call sony and repprt back too us and tell us what happend.
