I have always like the PSP, and games like Lumines, Burnout, and MGS:PO made it a worthwhile system to own. Also, the browser is great to surf the web on the toilet or on vacation. But just recently, in preparation for a three hour bus ride to a football camp I am heading to tomorrow, I tried getting DVD Decrypter and PSP Video 9, which I had always been wary of since all downloads scare me. It took some work, but I have Die Hard, four Red vs. Blue episodes, two Futuramas, and a Sealab 2021 episode on my 1gig that had been otherwise going to waste. The screen is just beautiful too, and puts video iPods and even the Zune to shame. Even without the UMD drive, the PSP would still be well worth the $250 I paid for it (launch) and then some.zeppelin6591TRUE THAT!!!

I play the psp more than my PC now since I can play it in bed.
I totally agree. I just got my PSP recently. I originally wanted to get it last year (while I like buying brand new things, I usually wait a while on electronics to see what happens) Anyhow, everyone I was talking to said it wasn't worth it, so I decided on DS Lite instead. I like it, but decided to try and upgrade and get a PSP as well. I've not had it for a month yet and I just can't put the thing down. I am charing the battery almost every day, I originally thought the battery would be fine for me, now I think I need to get more.
The games are great, with a little research I've found probably a hundred games I'm going to get over time. The option to buy or download movies is awesome. I don't plan to use it for movies and TV often, but I do plan to use it for trips and things. The internet is not perfect (I think if they would get a keyboard accesory it would even better) but it does the job for just hopping on quick to check news or whatever. And the music, which was one of the main reasons I bought it, seems to do a great job. All around, it just seems to be a great device. Yeah, there are some things that aren't perfect, but how often can a company (especially in the tech industry) come out with their first try at a product and get it right?
I don't have an MP3 player yet (except for stupid thing that I could throw against the wall every time I try to use it, which is about once a year) I was wanting a Zune because it seemed to be the first player that had everything I wanted. But, after hearing the negative reviews and all the problems with combatiblity and stuff, I decided it wasn't for me. My next shot was the iPod video, but it just wasn't exactly what I was looking for. With that price tag, I definitely wanted something that was going to have everything I wanted, especially since music just isn't one of my major activties. I wanted something that sounded good, had a nice screen and good do videos, a long with some other things. I decided to see what a PSP could offer me and I couldn't be happier. The way I see it, the PSP is going to be less than an iPod video and I can get all my accessories and still probably spend less and in the end, I get more than what I was looking for.
I don't get why the PSP still seems to be getting such a beating by so many people, I think it rocks!
