Do you guys really think so? Seriously this is becoming unacceptable, I see people getting their console broken almost everyday in this forum. I personally had my ps3 fixed two times, and I know I took good care for them but it still failed.I know about 6 people who owns the system in my life and they all had experience on their ps3 breaking. (mostly Yellow light)

So whoever said the system failure rate is 3% or anything around that, they are wrong.

In my opinion 90% of PS3 failures are caused by the user.

everyday on this forum.. but this is your first post? right... anyway... yes, im sure some ps3's do break. but mine hasn't and neither has anyones i know.

EDIT: In fact, having reread your post, I think it is likely you are just a disgruntled 360 fanboy who WISHES the ps3 failed as much as the 360. 6 friends, all with ps3s which all broke.. oh give me a break

I see the failures reported on the site, but considering there is over 1.5 million users active in the PS3 forums don't you think that there will be a few talked about every once and a while? Also I have a 60GB launch model (never owned an Xbox, so there goes your theory) and when I see people that say they have turned the PS off with the back power switch it makes me skeptical on how a lot of people treat their systems.

Funny i know over 20 people with a PS3 and none of them have had problems and the so called guarantee that people say about the launch consoles getting YLOD, I've put my 60GB through heck ... and I mean weeks of folding@home without turning it off (weeks!!), and still works perfectly fine.

And yes who ever said the system failure rate is 3% is wrong, because its less.

Um boards are where people go to report their problems. You don't see a whole bunch of threads screaming "My PS3 is working fine!!!" Why? Because those people are probably too busy playing on it. What you see on the boards are a biased sample, so to speak (I just took a research methods final).

yea you know that because you monitor all ps3's right? There's no official document from sony with statistics on repair issues and even if there was it cant be recent, im sure if they did make some sort of document on repaired ps3's now would obviously be different from last year or the year before. And you gotta look at these things from a customers point of view. Say the PS3 sells 10 million for example, 3% isn't alot in comparison to the total but 300,000 broken is alot. Especially on such an expensive product with such a crappy warranty. Honestly from forum reading and bad experience I think these estimated failure rates are wrong, and consider people who repair their playstations elsewhere because sony does charge alot for repair.

Yeah one dude smashed his ps3 with a hammer and then came here and asked for help. I don't know if he got mad at a game or whatever or accidentally did it but yeah some people break thereps3. I have the 60gb and Nothing is wrong with it. If the yellow light thing happens to me but I'm still able to do all the stuff I was able to do before it turned yellow, There's a big chance of that not bothering me.

that and 90% failure posts are made by X360 owners (just look at the number of posts of the user, if very low = troll)

Not a Chance.

0.3 percent sounds realistic.

I hate fanboys, who think they have the right to say 360 is better.

It doesn't take long to do the math.

20,000,000 x 3%-5% = 600,000-1,000,000

Industry acceptable manufacturing defect rate yields between 600,000 and 1,000,000 units. Do you think your personal experience and forum reading equates to more than 1,000,000 units? I doubt it tops 1,000.
