This "unfair" crap needs to stop. Prices of things drop all the time, and it is not the responsibility of Sony to pass this savings down to people who bought a system weeks or months ago. The prices of cars drop....people who bought that car don't get money back. Games go into the greatest hits library and they don't compensate you for buying the game months before. This is just irrational thinking and I don't know why anybody thinks they got ripped off.

You bought the system that you bought at the price you bought it at. You bought it because you wanted it. Sony didn't make you buy it. Everybody here knew full well that the price of the system would drop eventually. This is a "risk" you assume when you buy anything. I have seen people complain non stop on this forum since the price drop was announced and I can't see how anybody could come to the conclusion that Sony should compensate you in any way.

Current PS3 owners should be happy because a price drop means more people will buy it....which means more devs will make more games for it....which means all PS3 owners, current and future, will benefit from this. You will have more people to play PS3 games with online. This is a win-win situation. I don't mean to be snippy, but damn people, you have a great system at the price you were willing to pay for it. Just be happy, play your games and have a nice day.

My goodness this is a stupid thread. The price of the console was bound to drop at SOME point... we are the ones that chose to purchase it when we did. Hopefully the price drop will allow more ppl to be able to enjoy the system.

My only concern is that it should've dropped to around $450 to really be competitive.

why didn't you just ask the question and not add all the other stuff in? why didn't you just ask, "What is a better deal, the 80GB PS3 with MotorStorm for $599 or the 60GB PS3 for $499?". You know, it's not that hard to just ask a question.

The $500 model is a muchbetter deal, especially since it still has the EE chip in it. The 80GB model is mindbogglingly stupid IMO. Why pay $100 more for no EE chip, 20 GB of more HDD space and Moterstorm? sfenty

for people who are not technologically advanced enough to swap in a new HDD themselves and want MotorStorm. kids under 15 whose parents are getting it for them, maybe the older crowd that didn't grow up with computers.

and the software emulation is just about as good as the hardware emulation is. So there's not that much difference now.
