my ps3 has more than justified its price even tho i only have one ps3 game
i use it for more than just playing games
Ok one of Gamespot points was that the PS3 might want to rethink the price but who thinks the the only thing has to do is justify the PS3 price for lack of better terems.g o look at the price of blu-ray players that will warrent the price if it doesnt you are a donkey my friend
Personally, I just think they need to warrent the price. Home is a good start, but once Ps3 has its exclusives and improves on its media and others features (and possile the Linux/OS feature) , the 500/600 will bring people in. Personally I like the fact that the PS3 gives me the best offer for my money, I just wish they gave me more reinsurance that it will bring great games like it did on Ps2imnotacrook
Before there is anymore griping about the PS3's price, let's think about the other methods of obtaining high-quality gaming, photo viewing, video playback, web browsing, and movie playing. The only other machine that comes to mind is the PC. And while the PC certainly does many of those things better, a high quality machine will cost you $2,500. On top of that, PC's become obsolete, on average, within 9-15 months.
The PS3 does all of those things, for 1/4 the price, and Sony is committed to supporting it for the next 10 years. That means, for 1/4 of the price of a PC you are almost garaunteed to have the ability to indulge in the highest quality gaming experiences on the market for 8-10 times longer than you would with a PC.
I heard somewhere that Sony is losing 280 dollars on every PS3 they ship. So they are not lowering the price anytime soon. The price is the price. The machine is worth the price right now. When you consider how the gaming library is going to grow over the next 12 months, the value only becomes greater.
Also, you need to think about things in context. I don't know the exact figures but money isn't worth what it used to be. I wonder how the $200 dollars my parents paid for a SNES in 1992 would translate into today's dollars.
We all knew how much the PS3 would cost almost a year ago. If you can't pull together $600 in that time, then there is something wrong with you.
