So yeah, the other day sony was giving out beta keys, and i made it in (DO NOT ASK FOR ONE, THE MODS WILL SUSPEND YOU)

I was thinking that it looked way to childish and stuff, like many other fps or tps players out there....but when i played it, it was instantly addicting, and i had to make the biggest level ever. and i did. me and my bro did nothing but play levels with other people, play our level, decorate and add tons of stuff to it.......there is just wayy too much stuff and tools to make your own level with. this game really shocked me, i didnt expect to be playing a game like that all day, but its a hell of a lot of fun. I would definietly recommend getting it when comes out... and even in the beta, there are a lot of options and clothes for you sackboy/girl....

so what did you guys/girls in the beta think about it?

I'm really hoping that LBP gives PS3 owners something unique and innovative to brag about. Having said that, I can also see LBP being one of those games that you futz around with for about a week and then never touch again...

I believe they're encouraging the listing of any disadvantages discovered whilst playing the Beta - if any exist...

I was throroughly impressed with it as well.

Just the sheer silliness of slapping a sackperson and fooling around/ letting your curious imagination experiment with the environment is beatiful.

I WAS experiencing major lag issues when playing with other players but I expect this to be fixed as this is only the Beta.

Also, considering how much content will be in the game just amazes me.

You truly have to appreciate how simple it is for the developers to give us the content and then realize that it's the complexity of those simple components that make the game so great.

Also, people call thiis game childish and I often hear people saying "Enjoy your kiddy game, I'll be playing Gears 2" but that only implies how juvenal the person (Xbox fanboy in this case) is. Games do not have to have blood to be fun, Mario games are great because they are fun and LBP is the new standard of fun in my honest opinion.

I'm also a hardcore COD4 addict but this blew me away.

haha....whoops

Disadvantages: The game CONSTANTLY freezes. this gets really really annoying when you have added a major part to your level that you are creating.

Also, sometimes when you try to select an item, usually pictures from the ps3 eye, it will load and load and load and load and never stop. it annoys me when i cant select certain things.

Finally, it is VERY time consuming. I wasnt kidding when i said I used all day to create my level and play. i got up at 9 and didnt stop playing until a second ago, and im goin back after this. I guess this could also be an advantage, its really addictive.

exactly, i have already heard that.....i dont care though, my girlfriend likes playing this with me, not cod4 or gears or anything like that. This game is probably the first game ever that im purchasing that doesnt include blood/guts/intense violence.

also, i am willingly buying this instead of far cry 2......i was for sure going to buy far cry 2 and fallout 3, but now, since i played the beta, i am just getting this and fallout 3.....it really is a lot of fun

Yeah, I hate time consuming games like that... seriously. Mostly because I can't afford to spend much time playing like I used to. But I guess it's cool if you have time to spare.

But the payoff is all in the publishing of the game. Look up the level: The World of Colour. That level easily took weeks to create but the comments, tags, and the actual game itself is so damn fun. I love how people praise the developer, it's really a sense of accomplishment and it just feels like you are making your very own game. This is the intent of Alex Evans anyway-- to show gamers what its like to make games for the public.

I love it, I havent created anything yet because I love playing other people's levels but everytime I go to the comment box and see how much people appreciate others I just cant help but want to create something.

It's such a nice feeling of community, everybody is enjoying themselves. BEats the hell out of hearing "DEFUSE THE BOMB IDIOT!" In Cod4 lol.

This game is so casual yet so hardcore.

It's a masterpiece in my eyes and I haven't seen something this great since the original Halo on the original Xbox.

I didn't say it was a bad thing... but I just can't enjoy that kind of games because I don't have the time, not because they are bad.

But having said that, I'll probably get it and d/l the levels from other people lol

Great game so far

the level creator is pretty interesting, theres about 1-2 hours of tutorials, which really stunned me, all chopped up into 2 to 3 minute little mini missions in a sense to get you to learn how to use bolts, elastics, strings, pistons, switches, materials etc. The narrator is pretty funny and it didn't feel that long.

But then you get creating, and initially (unless you already had a plan laid out) you really don't know where to start, you make something and then for a period of time your wondering what you can do ... then you think up some contraption, make it and you learn how better use the tools, which helps you think up even crazier things, which help you learn more about the tools and their limits (or mostly the lack there-of). It's very cyclic (or atleast this is how it was for me) and I would make something and be astounded at how easy it was to make, even when the things got more and more complicated. The Level Creator really is ingenious and a lot of fun.

the first day i got my beta key i played for 12 hours, and im currently making a level, but i never had the game freeze while making a level, it did a few times when playing with others, but most of the time i just get sent back to my pod after a min, i did have to restart my PS3 twice so far

A disadvantage in my case is the turtorial section along with actually learning the LBP level building program and the way every single object works. I'd say it's like learning FruityLoops, AcidPro, Protools and Photoshop all at the same time. It takes knowledge of physics, geometry and mathematics. I dont think I'll ever take the time to learn all that, but I don't mind playing the premade levels. When all said and done the gameplay comes down to jumping and grabbing(almost at a childs level) then again the making aspect is EXTREMELY time consuming and pretty difficult. So I may buy it, I may not, it's not mindblowing but it's definately refreshing and addicting to play. It's really funny seeing the ideas people come up with for levels. The construction level, where you just pick up blocks with a crane and move them, it's extremely easy but I'm sure making that level took FOREVER. Super Mario Bros v1.1, the bank robbery levels are also great. I can't remember there's like 4 worlds of user levels.

For the TC that said there's a lot of clothing options I disagree there's few ways but nothing like I've seen on boxart with fangs and such. I seen a bunny for girls, and a pirate for guys. I attached a bunch of springs on my sackboy's head I hadn't seen anyone do that yet and it's not part of the clothing options but it'll save. Of course you can mix and match colors.

Gotta add.. online is REALLY crazy laggy. It's prob just glitchy right now with all the new betas but when the game requires precision jumping, while there's 5 players in one level any lag can mess you up. I noticed people had a hard time just on the jump rope type level where you just jump the rotating bar cause of lag.

I have no beta. I looked for a video of The World of Colour and found nothing. Could somebody summarize it for the unlucky majority.

You really just have to play it to understand. Every three seconds you are amazed at one someone has done with a little string and wood and lights, colour, paint.

So far I've played about 8 levels I strongly liked. Everyone is still just learning how to create, there are lots of garbage levels but give the users time and each day you see something new.

It's the Youtube of Gaming.
