I just got the itch to play Madden 2001, the first on PS2. Why does this seem more fun to me than Madden 07 on PS3? In that 6 YEAR OLD version, you could select old school uniforms, and it was such a massive leap from the PSone. I think the exlusive license is killing Madden. In this "next-gen" how can you not even select from alternate uniforms? Am I the only one who thinks this is absurd? Even on the 360 you can't, and 07 was it's second year for that platform. I will be looking at All-Pro Football 2K8 this year.
I have owned EVERY Madden since it came out for the consoles that I owned. In fact, it got to a point where I would take off work just to get it at release and play it all day. You would be hard pressed to find a bigger Madden fan. That being said....this is the first year that I didnt get it. I dont know what it was but your post was exactly correct. The exclusive liscence for Madden has KILLED the series in my opinion. If you would have told me 5 years ago that I would not get Madden for my new PS3, I would have told you that you were crazy. It seems to me that the series just seems to come down to updated rosters every year. Big deal....The hit stick was innovative and the passing thing they did last year sucked. I have just got to the point where I had to take a break. I will not be getting madden next year unless there are some serious changes or EA decides to step it up and only produce a game that should be no less than a 9.0 rating.
The funny thing is that I am a die hard PATS fan and after all those years of playing their crappy teams....I dont buy it when they are great (well I did buy it when they were great since they have been since 2000) you know what I mean....
i know i payed $63 for that crap. that was the worst decision i ever made. this game should have been bigger and better than on any system. but its not.
