My mom finally let me get Final Fantasy VII on my PSP and while it was downloading, it gets about halfway and then when I check to see where it's at, it said there was some kind of error and I had to restart the download!! Ugh! I was hoping it'd be done within the next couple of hours.

Erm... Alright.

That's not cool.

But do you expect a discussion to stem from that?

I'm betting what he's trying to say is that the downloads are incredibly slow/stupid on the PSP store. I have to agree with him on that, it's crashed (displayed an error) about 4 times for me. It makes me mad, plus downloads speeds? I think Sony is using Dial-Up.

It depends what Internet connection your using. I used to have 1.5Mbps speed and now I have 3Mbps. Final Fantasy 7 only took 10 minutes when before it took hours.

My downloads always take a long time to finish, I even had some wallpapers I got from PSN take a while to finish downloading. Think I've got a really, really slow internet connection >.>

Let me guess... Earthlink as an ISP?

Trying to get "Syphon Filter" (PS1) was a pain, took two days of trying ("Time-Out Error" after error), and I blame my ISP before I blame Sony on this one.

Back to say "Medal of Honor" zipped down to my PSP pretty quick this morning... I really don't think it's an issue on Sony's end, I think that some regional services are better than others (here in the US). I flippin' HATE Earthlink... been problematic for months and they deny any problems, so we're out as soon as the contract is up, or whatever... it's my roomie's service so I just ride the WiFi.:P I really can't complain, since I'm not shellin' out...

... but I do a lot of his flippin' DISHES, so I'm sure it equals out...

... I swear, living with the guy cam be like the messy roomate on "The Sims" that you get stuck with early on... the guy who makes you late for work constantly because you're cleaning all his gunk off everything?

It took me like two hours to download FFVII.. then another hour or two to install it.. I mean, it was worth it, and it /is/ 1.32 gigs, but I wish there was an easier way to do it.

This is going to be a big problem with the PSP GO especially as the size of PSP games has grown tremendously. Most demos used to be under 20 MB, but now most are over 100 MB. Unless your downloading a puzzle game, get ready for some long downloads as 1 GB still takes some serious time to download over a 15 Mb connection.

Frighteningly, my PSP is actually faster and more relaible than my PS3 for downloading stuff...I have no idea why, this is the case even when they are right next to each other.

They're not going away. Sony has pledged support of the format as a game carrier until far into the future of the system. The Go is another version of the hardware designed to carry games, but the base of 1000 to 3000 userd out there is far too great and entrenched for them to just say "Ok, you guys don't get any more, ony these people here."

Case in point, the ten-year projected life of the PS2. They're not dropping that as a format, simply an alternative... and there are places on earth were the Internet might as well not exsist, but Sony still wants into those markets with the same sort of vigor that they want the new digital download age to fly. You have nothing to fear about losing the UMD as a medium.

:)

However, the Resident Evil game was designed for the "PSP Go." If everything is the same hardware wise, doesn't that sound like Resident Evil will be download only?!

The only difference between the Go and a 3000 is looks, the guts (processing power, button layout andamount, i.e. no second thumbstick - boo who cares?etc) are the same. The Go will just have more on-board memory for those who "prefer a more digital lifestyle" and don't want to have to deal with UMD, according to Kaz during Sony's E3 address. Psychologically, he's suggesting in a way that if you don't move over to the Go that you are somehow out-dated or behind... but take it from a 42 year-old guy, it's gonna happen one way or another. I'm joking of course, but the fact that the game is coming out at launch (possibly) along with "Gran Turismo PSP" doesn't mean you won't be able to play it on your 1000, if you're still toting one of THOSE old pieces of dung around...

:D

Sony won't be making DL-only games, there may be CONTENT that becomes DL-only, but they are just now getting around to markets like South America so things are not going to shift RADICALLY over to PSN and only PSN for your gaming needs, I assure you.
