Man, I $uck at Wipeout

Wipeout HD is a really cool game. It runs @ silky smooth 60 fps, 1080p, and it even has nice textures on the tracks!

I guess I'm just really bad at it. Every time I get a gold medal, I seriously just BARELY win the 1st position... like the very last second. Every time I'm on 8th place, I stay at 8th place...

Really, you guys got a few pointers for me? My brother tells me to never let go of acceleration, even on turns, and just use the shoulder buttons for sharper curves.

Boost even if its out of ur way always try to make the boost pad, barrel roll every chance you get, unless you can use a weapon strait away, dont bother with it, use it to heal you as you want to find the boost weapon so you can boost again....seriously it's all about the boost and if you learn the course right you dont even have to use to air breaks most of the time.

I was up all last night playing online and won about 50 races and come 2nd in about 4 races, it's real easy when you know the course, such an awesome game, it's the best exclusive on the ps3 next to metal gear solid 4

If you have assist on you really dont need to let go of the gas because on tight turns you can just hit one of the air brakes. When you are air born do a barrel roll for some bonus speed.wooooode

Hit the circle button to absorb the power up and boost your shields back up a bit.

I've been having problems in the 3rd speed class.

When i'm online I usually get 1st to 3rd place depending on the track, but in most speed classes. I got 2nd overall in a EU tournament on venom, of course i'm playing against others who just got the game too... so doesn't mean i'm awesome or anything. Once you get into Flash and the 3rd/4th speed class things start to get really hard - when playing against the computer. I tried Elite mode ...i was beyond dead last in flash class. Who could possibly play elite and get 1st place. The computer performs perfectly around the entire course. I was 8th around the first turn.

I've just got the game and I've got some golds on the other modes but I haven't done the actual races? What are the red crosses on the floor? How do you get weapons?plod2

The red crosses are weapons pickups.

Raiper time trials are killing me. I'm on the 5th tier.
