Man Its Time For Sony To Finally Support All Video Files?

Converting to MP4 all the time SUCKS. I find it funny PSP supports WMA files but not WMV files yet. Any ideas why?

There might be some some licensing that needs to be done in order to get wmv on the psp, and maybe it would cost sony a chunk of money and they can't be bothered.

Well it appears unsurprisingly that in order to use Microsoft's WMA and WMV technology, Sony must pay MS a royalty for every device that uses it. I believe this explains why the WMA capability had to be activated before it could be used - an attempt to keep the number of devices down, in order to avoid royatlies.

My guess is Sony is not interested in putting themselves in a position where they have to pay royalties for WMV as well.
