Was i the only person shocked to see that there was no real change when it came to the characters themselves? I love tradition as much as the next gamer, but Ryu has had the same three moves since super streetfighter 2!!! i figure maybe one new move just one new basic power move. Magneto one of the most powerful mutants in the marvel universe feels so cheap to use cause for the most part your doing only two of the what four moves he has? This guy can have a almost endless power move set yet he still sports the same moves he had in MvsC 2. Mean while Donte (one of my favs) Has a move for every rotation of your controller lol. The game is great i love everything they did with it. It's a lot of fun and i can see myself playing for a long time, but was a few new moves to much to ask. I mean they shaved down the roster which is kool but what did they really add the the characters themselfs aside from maybe some new outfits?

Mm,i'm gonna have to go with you on the most part.i think some new moves would be in order.but there are some people who like it to be kept original,so maybe like they could realease moves like for some downloadable expansion pack?

When it comes to fighting games, you don't mess with a characters move set. I agree with you, they should, but it's just not something people do. I think Mortal Kombat is the only series that changes ever time.

Capcom has added subtle improvements to characters over time, Ryu was given his two hit medium punch in SF III not that long ago. And the character is still one of the most balanced and their biggest fighting game legacy character, what would you want him to do differently? Magneto was upper tier in MvC2, why change him?

Change of main characters in fighting games has never really happened. Sure they added things to characters in MK, which I hated BTW, but after MK2/3 what special moves have been added for the main characters? I didn't like the fighting style switching, I didn't like the weapon fighting, and I hated the pseudo 3D fighting. Plus, going back to the MvC / SF references, Ryu is a master of one fighting style, not multiple. That's the same for all of the other fighters.

And really, the focus is on the new characters in MvC3. I love using Phoenix, Super-Skrull, and Spencer. Now I hate MODOK with a passion, but there is so much that has been done to make the game more simple as well as to make it balanced that I don't think it needs much else. Now the biggest concern I have is over DLC characters. I am interested to see how balanced they are and if any of them will really start to break the game. I miss having Thanos around, but I worry that he would be overpowered in the wrong hands, same thing with Strider.

i feel you on a lot of your points epecially if you are playing alone or with just friends. But a fan fav. like Ryu for example if the moves never change then the stratagies for him never change making it easier to counter that if you are playing in lets say tournament. Prime example if you watched the big one that gamespot showed off you saw a lot of the same charecters like dante because of his move set and speed. Now don't take it the wrong way if your good then your good no matter who you play with but take two very good fighters and i promise they will face off useing less then predictabel characters. Yes MK did switch moves and added but it never hurt them Mk 2 had different and upgraded moves from one MK 3 had new and upgraded moves from 2 and that never hurt but helped the game out. It wasn't until 3d mk that the game started to go down hill but thats nothing new. Tekken got upgraded moves as well from 1- now so did DOA and a number of other fighting games so MK wasn't the only one. To be clear i love this game its great and im good with it as is but really it wouldn't hurt to upgrade not one bit it can only make things fresh for players.
