They package the PS3 version with an interactive comic that allows you to make 6 decisions that came up in ME1. As a PS3 owner, it obviously doesn't do justice to ME1, but it did a get job getting the story rolling for someone like me who was foreign to it.
Yeah, it's a nice addition that at least lets you experience a fraction of the early game (though the introspective Shepard who tells his tale is BEYOND creepy). Would have been nice if the 360 version did the same, as their locked canon experience without a save was ridiculous. The only downside is that while you can make the six 'big' decisions, losing the first game means no sidequest interaction, and I found those moments to be more meaningful in Mass Effect 2 than any of the big decisions. Most of those huge decisions result in a couple of lines of dialogue that vary, and that's it - and that's ridiculous.DJ_Lae
I agree 100%. Running into people I interacted with in the first game, and seeing what has happened since then made the game more enjoyable to me than whether or not I saved the counsel, which honestly doesn't effect the game that much.
Things like having a drink with the undercover Asari cop you helped in the first ME, then helping her take down the sales person on Illium who has the stolen plans. That had more effect on the game to me than letting the counsel die or live. Either way the new counsel can't be bothered with you, and Counselor Udina is a douche to you either way.
