BioWare has announced theMass EffectTrilogy Compilation, bringing the originalMass Effectto PlayStation 3 for the first time. The set will combine all three Mass Effect titles into one package and will launch on Xbox 360 and PC on November 6th for $59.99. A PlayStation 3 version will follow, though a specific date hasnt been announced just yet.

BioWare will also release the original Mass Effect as a standalone title via PlayStation Network, though an exact date hasnt been announced for that either. This marks the first time Mass Effect, which was published by Microsoft Studios originally, will make its way to Sonys console. IGN has learned that the standalone version will include Trophy support.

Well if anyone still hasn't gotten in on the Mass Effect series or still wants to play the first one, looks like your opportunity will be coming soon.

Yeah maybe I'll look into it. I never touched any of the Mass Effect games, but they've all gotten pretty good reviews.

This is awesome news! I hope they fix some the bugs and pop in textures I encountered in the first Mass Effect on 360.

They'll have ME1 as a download on PSN. I'm weird in the way of I own 2 & 3 on PS3 but now I want to sell them and my ME1 on 360 just to have this. I'm doing the same thing with my Killzone 2 & 3 just so I can have the new collection coming out.

Hope it comes through... I shelved ME2 awhile back because I don't rock an HD TV yet (I know, I live in the Stone Age - I'm a family-man chimp with no extra income, what can I say), so the op to play the first-one-first is good news, indeed! I hate picking things up in the middle like that.

:D

Thanks Vari3ty!

Story wise it's the best in the series, I can't wait to play it again as I had to rush the game on Xbox, I'm glad that they will have a standalone ME1 version as I already own ME2 and 3.

Because it's been long enough now that the consumer interest has died out for the title on XB and PC, and they want to revive the money tree. It's ALL about the Benjis. Execs would sell their daughters into the sex trade for the right price, or to milk a few more million out of something.

I have all 3 for the other system, but if they were to upgrade it for this rerelease I would probably buy it. Mass Effect 1 is my favorite of the 3 but I gotta admit it had some serious issues

It truly is. First one had best story, 2nd one best characters, and so far the 3rd one is just boring...no good chars or story. I already put more than 50 hours into the game, yet it's hard having fun with the 3rd. However, the multiplayer in the 3rd is really good, so maybe it wins in the mp department. The single player is hugely lacking though in the 3rd

It may sound stupid but can I assume that decisions made from the first 1 will carry on to the other 2. if so I think I buy it.

I assume they will definitely allow you to import saves from 1 into 2.

Fantastic, I'll be picking it up once it's released, played it on PC few years back and it's an excellent game. I already have Mass Effect 2 & 3. Will pick the digital copy of the original game the moment it's released. :)

Most PS3 owners who wanted Mass Effect series already bought 2 and 3 on PS3 and knew somewhat about the story of the first from the comic. But i will personally buy the trilogy later on just to play the whole series from the first till the third. I simply prefer retail because of bandwidth concerns and still retail boxed versions are more reliable in my opinion. But i wont buy it on release date, maybe next year after Christmas.

Actually, the PC version of ME1 was published by EA, so it can be assumed they are porting the PC version of the game.

Ether Microsoft's exclusititvity has finally expired, or EA paid them enough to release those rights.
