Besides, MGS2 was on XBOX and they didn't appreciate it then, so they're not going to appreciate it now. People who own an Xbox360 were never going to buy a PS3 just for MGS4, so it isn't as though thereareany 360 owners out there saying "Phew, now I don't have to buy a PS3" to themselves.

As soon as there is a game that merrits the need for another console in my colection I will buy the PS3... regardless of the price.

This article is actually quite positive for ps3 owners depending on how you look at it. It means that there isn't a 360 or god help us Wii version currently in the works. He states that we may have to look at other platforms to recoup our costs. I take that as a wait and see approach. Which means it should be a timed exclusive for the ps3 at worst. Plus the guy they are talking to is a bean counter not a programmer. He has no idea if MSG4 can even be put on another system and what compromises may have to take place.

Usually not, it's just general fanboism, but with this game the developers aparantly aim to take advantage of the storage space the blue ray disks has to offer, and if it where to come to say the 360 then it would have to fit into a much smaller DVD, unless they aim to ship it on several, something I highly doubt will happen.
But I don't see any reason to fear that MGS4 will be multiplatform as it's aparantly allready so far into development they are complaining about lack of space availible in the current version of blue ray disks.
Konima said $100 price drop in NA wasn't enough -- however atleast temporially sales have spiked and who says in 3 months SONY can't drop PS3 drice by another $30 - $50 ?
Also why would they MGS4 ?? Look at DMC4 a ton of fanboys won't buy the game now - and im talking thousands of people, simply becuase its multiplatform... any devloper with a large exclusive PS3 knows by now that its best to let it be realeased - sell well then tell 360 owners its going to 360 ...
Wow. I really think some people need to learn how to read. That is about a clear a threat to Sony that you can get. That they better get consoles out on the market and/or pony up more cash to keep it exclusive. It's not written as speculation by the reporter but as something the head of teh European and North American games division told the reporter. If they are talking like that you can bet they've already experimented with porting the game over to 360 hardware, perhaps more than experimented.
Not a popular opinion I know but this is about as clear a statement that Konami has no problems making this a timed exclusive only as you can get.
Well from the people i know they are waiting for Christmas until the PS3 drops to a good price and by that time there would be games like GTA IV, Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 and MGS4 for 2008.
I got my PS3 when it came out and to be honest i didn't start playing my PS3 until recently it started to release Tom Clancy Rainbow 6 Vegas.

Until the game is finished you have no idea how much room it takes up or how efficient the final compression will be. You don't know hwo the compression might be different or better on 360 hardware. And most of all there is technically no problem having a multi-disk game.
At the moment its only on ps3. He even said that 'We MIGHT have to take steps' so he hasnt done anything yet. It would be extremely hard to squeeze it on an xbox disc leading to (as many say) a multidisk set, which is a few generations out of fashion. Also the fact MGS4 is in konami and Sony press conferences only, means it is exclusive officially aswell.

Looks like it might be a timed exclusive now because of the way he worded his statement. Maybe it releases this year for PS3 and March next year for X360?
I don't think they will release at the same time, PS3 will probably get a timed exclusive at just based on the fact they have most of PS3's game done already.
Konami just wants excuses now to release it on other platforms to make more money. Either that or they underestimate the power of their own game and how much of a SYSTEM seller it will be, MGS4 alone could sell enough systems to make all teh devlopment costs back.
