I bought a 4gig 'SONY' memory stick off eBay last year. It looked real but when I compared it to my 1gig store-bought Sony mem stick, there was a difference. And now, whenever I try to save it game, it just deletes the file and end's up not saving. I lost like... 2 good gamesaves because of this. Eh, I'll just go buy one from the store then.. but what do you guys think... is it because my memory stick is fake and doesn't work anymore?
yeah if u bought it off ebay most likely its fake...try formating it i did and mys work fine i also purchase one from ebay and it turn out to be fake u can tell if its fake or real by goin into your psp xmb menu and pressing the triangle button and check the information for your memorystick and were it says magicgate if says unknown the memory stick is fake

Yeah it's fake. Fake memory cards are only supposed to work for a couple of years or so is what I heard.. so mines probably done. I'll try formatting it... if not, I'll go buy a new one.. no big deal, hahaha
I formatted it, and it worked for a couple of days, then went back to screwing up on me. I went into the savedata folder, and it's renaming folders of games to like... "_OWRITE_" or "_NEW_".... I tried Googling for an answer and looked around, but can't come up with anything except just get a new mem stick. Or is my PSP doing this? I'm on 3.90.

I'm having a similiar problem. My POPS psx games only actually save like half the time. I'm 4.01 and I've tried it on the Lexar 8 gb I bought at Fry's and on the 1gb sandisk I bought at Best Buy, I have problems with both. I'll play a PSX game and I'll save it, and after I turn off my PSP, the next time I play, either the entire last play session I had seems like it never existed, or my save file disappears altogether. I play a lot of RPGs, so this is really giving me a headache.
Wassup! i had the same problem before and i dont know how i did it but everytime i play monsterhunter freedom 2 using my fake mem card i always get the same error and i tried checking my saved files w/c my fake mem card constantly converts my save to _OWRITE_ what i did is i renamed the folder to ULS00851 and continued to save my game.. and it works! having a hard tym explaining how i did it.. any 1 interested can pm me thanks
