With every Metal Gear Solid release, Konami always seems to have a hand in re-releasing the game all over again with a "-ence" suffix in the title at least a year after its original release (a la Substance and Subsistence). They've even done one of sorts with the original (The Twin Snakes) and Portable Ops. Do you think Metal Gear Solid 4 will be have the same fate where it'll be released with "-ence" suffix, and if so, should I wait?

buy, then re-buy the "ence" version and you have two copies in case one gets messed up. but my mgs4 disc will be in a vacuum sealed safe, so i dont have to worry about that. (kidding about the safe)

Buy. And if MGS4: Guns of the Patriotence comes around, buy it if you want to.

Well every game can potentially be remade, remastered or re-produced with few extra different options available. That is marketed for those who haven't gotten the original yet or simply are waiting for price drop or as you said, maybe a little extra juice.

For those, (Including myself) who are waiting on Metal Gear's latest arrival it will be a first day buy. It's a high profile franchise that always delivered as one of PlayStation's excellent titles. By all means, you can wait it out if you desire. If you really want to play the game, a long wait for little extra features (assuming there is one) is not worth in my opinion.

Just my two cents. :)

Buy it.
With PSN, any updates on a new disc, most likely will be available online.

Buy first, that ups the chance of an "ence" coming out anyway.

But with the PSN (as was mentioned above) I am sure it will most likely have add-ons.

Get it. The BOX itself will contain extras, expect a "making of" DVD disk. (remember when Sons of Liberty came out on the next generation console back then, they made a making of DVD disk to showcase the power of the PS2 and what it could offer) And don't forget you will be getting the standard version of the MGO!

yea i waited for mgs: snake eater special edition or whatever it was and found out how much better it was but... Definetly buy they know what they're doing this time from the start. just watch the trailer. It's not the way snake ater was when it first came out its more like the re-release.

Defintely, definitely, DEFINITELY get it the day it releases. There is no need to wait. Metal Gear Solid 4 is my most anticipated title on the PS3, considering I am a Metal Gear Solid veteran, a fan right from the beginning with Metal Gear for Nintendo. The worry of it re-releasing does not bother me, as it should not you. Whenever they re-released Metal Gear games, they just mostly had extras and stuff. If you already have the game, you have what matters most. Usually, like another mentioned above, the re-releases are most likely releases for people who have not gotten it yet that will want to go ahead and buy that to get extras with it, though if you have the money and really want to you could buy the re-release anyway. But once I get the actual game, that's it right there for me. That's what I want and all I need. :3

Anyone who is even considering in the slightest not to get MGS4 on day one (or as soon as they humanely possible) should go back, experience MGS again, and then reconsider, because personally, I find it foolish to ignore the release of one of the PS3's greatest (if not THE greatest) days ever.
