It's a solid game, but most of its value lies in the nostalgia factor. If you haven't played any of the other MGS games before, then you might not appreciate this one. I grew up on the MGS games so this was a must buy for me. I enjoyed it very much and even beat it a couple of times over just to get the usual "treats" at the end like the infinite ammo bandana and camo gear. The convoluted story can deter most people, but if you liked the other MGS games, you'll love this one.
Thank you for your replies. No I haven't played any earlier versions of MGS before, this is the first one I got. OmarSoudaniDude , then you won't find any satisfaction playing through MGS4 ... :? ...
Thank you all guys, decided to give it a try and play the game :) OmarSoudaniIts essential you play the other games first, the best part of MGS4 is its story, and you won't understand it at all.

wat the hell? its the best game i played this generation, but it does make it more enjoyable if you play the first few in the series. you need to get the style of the game down, its not like 99% of games out there where you run into the open and shoot. you need to play stealthy
pause the game and go on youtube and watch the backstory vids. many of the die-hards have made a "catch up" vid for the likes of newcomers like yourself that have no clue about the 20+ years of awesomeness that is the MG saga. after you are familiarized with the characters and their motives, go back and enjoy one of the finest games the ps3 has to offer....youre welcome.
Started to watch the backstory vids, it seems a nice game.. Once i'm done with them i'll start playing the game from the beginning.pause the game and go on youtube and watch the backstory vids. many of the die-hards have made a "catch up" vid for the likes of newcomers like yourself that have no clue about the 20+ years of awesomeness that is the MG saga. after you are familiarized with the characters and their motives, go back and enjoy one of the finest games the ps3 has to offer....youre welcome.
