Metal Gear Solid Unpopular?

It seems whoever i ask, nobody has heard of Metal Gear Solid only Splinter Cell... I've played through MGS1 MGS2 and MGS3 especially liking the story line and can't wait for MGS4.

It is sort of a love or hate game.

But if you ask in a PS3 forum, everybody will know about it. Even the people that don't like the game knows about Metal Gear.

And if you ask me, i think its better that thoes kinds of people never hear or see of metal gear solid. so that good games like MTGS stay for us good gamers. and they dont get ruined by these slugheads :)

The TC is actually asking about opinion on MGS being unpopular not whether or not you know WTH MGS IS. Secondly, the comment you gave, is not a comment, it is a question. Next time, please give useful opinions instead of typing something to joke around when the TC is actually being serious and no, you don't win anything. Do i even need to tell you the reasons.

I never cared for the series. Stealth games and games with tons of cut screens or movies are not my cup of tea. Plus, the story, if you can call it that, makes virtually no sense.

well there are alot of younger gamers out there who never played mgs1 so werent interested in the rest of the series, or people who maybe owned a different system so never played it

No way! Even the non gamers in the office hark back to the PS original and look in awe at the new trailers of MGS4

Its the ONLY reason i am buyin a PS3 to be honest since i have a 360..

I mean shelling out £300 to play one game is extreme but its the only game this generation that makes me wanna do that!

Sadly, when Halo 3 spent 10 million dollars on advertisement alone, everyone hear about it. Even my local NPR station's people heard about it. Although they don't know anything at all about what the game is about, they know the name Halo 3.

Metal Gear series on the other hand, is superior in almost every way, yet it has no 10 million dollars on marketing. So it's not a wonder why many people have never heard of it.

You are absolutely right. I've never played an MGS game, but I still know about it and I am really excited about MGS4.
