who's planning to buy it eventhough you already have individual copies of mgs1, mgs2 sons of liberty, mgs2 substance, mgs3 snake eater, mgs3 subsistence? i have these 5 already individually but it's still tempting to buy 1:P

I was going to buy it because I have no knowledge on the previous MGS games and MGS4 looks good. But I hear there's a DVD that comes with a MGS4 preorder and that it explains the series so far. brownthrilla
Trust me, the bonus disc wont do the actual games justice. If there were ever must play games, The MGS games classify as must play. You wont regret playing them.

I don't know anything about the MGS series, but won't trying to play all of them get a little boring? I mean, is the gameplay similar for all the games?wow cool you have sealed LE subsistence:) i only have the standard. is there a big difference from the standard?videogamer_ps
The only difference is a third disk that is basically a movie consisting of the cutscenes from the game cut together. This disk gets its own box and is placed inside a larger red box along with the standard edition of Subsistence. It's not really special content wise, but it's ridiculously rare lol. My local GS only got 4 copies of the LE version. It was the first time that I ever heard of stores "selling out" of pre-orders lol.

I see where hillelslovak was coming from on this but just seeing the DVD is an easier task. However, I may by the collection as a collectors thing.im gonna give in to the peer pressure and take the plunge into mgs
but yea would they get boring after playing them all consecutively and how long does each one take?
NYiVtec
Would they get boring? I would say quite the opposite. Once you beat the first one, you will want to play the next one.

Agree. The MGS series is very addicting, in a great away. It is the king of drug you actually want to abuse:lol:
I have them all including a sealed copy of the LE edition of Subsistance except for Substance lol. I would pick it up even if I had a copy of every individual game like you lol.CJL182
um...oops...i opened my pack! lol but i guess im a different type of collector...i love all of the bonus features it came with! im gonna be a sad sad man when it all ends...WHY HIDEO WHY!?!?!?

actually you're missing out on a whole bunch of other info with the LE...i guess i was lucky enough (didnt know they were rare) to get it and ive played it...in fact i have every edition of the MGS series..(MGS, MGS2:SoL, MGS2:Substance, MGS3:S.E, and MGS3:Subsistence LE)...
im looking at it right now so yeah...lol...
First of all...if you preordered it you got a bonus disk Metal Gear Saga Vol 1...this holds a timeline of the games thus far...Ch 1 is 1964 MGS3:SE, Ch 2 is 1994-1995 MG, Ch 3 is 1999 MG2 SS, Ch 4 is 2005 MGS, Ch 5 is MGS:SoL...in each chapter they talk about the story n what not (cant remember exactly as its been a long time since i last watched them) Also, a good note on it, it's a DVD so you can watch it anywhere! In addition to the descriptions of the storylines for each game thus far, they included the TGS trailer of MGS3: SE.
In the actual case which is inside the box, includes two CDs: Disk 1: Subsistence and Disk 2: Persistence. In Disk 1, it includes the regular game with an alternate 3rd person view. In Disk 2, It includes a bunch of bonus features! They include: the short-lived online mode, while great but was more of testing for the game and a template for MGO. Also, it includes the return of the mini-game Snake vs. Monkey! Finally, one of the coolest features of this LE, are the inclusions of the ORIGINAL GAMES!!! Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2!
Also, I'm not sure whether its in Disk 1 or Disk 2, but there is also a bonus feature which enables you to play against just the bosses in the game. I like this mode as I LOVED every minute of playing against the Shagohod!
Finally, comes the 3rd disk: Existence. What this includes is one feature: the theatrical version of MGS3:SE...every cutscene in the form of a movie! I believe it is three hours long. Also, I'm not sure if it's on this disk or on one of the other two in the LE, but there are also "bloopers" to the game included.
So, I think that's everything included in the LE of MGS3:Subsistence. If I missed anything else, please correct me and add on!
Gonna get one dispite the fact I possess all of them...
The fact that it's a Metal Gear Solid release is enough for me to buy it :D
I just bought it, even tho I have MGS3, and Subsistence, and MGS2, just buying it for MGS1.
Right now im playing mgs1, im stuck at the part where you blow up the wall on the bottom of the second floor, I cant figure out where to go.
Do you get anything extra if you preordered the essentials collection? I picked it up today from gamestop and the guy asked me if i had preordered it.

for me I will buy it cus I didn't buy 3 and my MGS1's 2nd CD is broken ,which I wanna replay even after all this time.
I can't wait:P
